  • whilst people that don't work can afford cigarettes, booze, mobile phones, they are getting too much. there needs to be a massive crackdown. the squeezed middle can't take much more of this. due to this ridiculous budget i have effectively had a pay cut. why is my pay reducing when I work, yet most layabouts are getting a pay increase as their benefits rise? sickening country.

if a job in my company arises overseas i may well take it. another loss to the UK of a tax payer, but as long as the chav and filth get more, that is the way it will be.

    truly disgusted with osbourne today.

I think we are in a sad state when even the better off moan when they may lose a bit of benefit.
Gordon Brown tried to engineer a situation where everyone was on one sort of handout or another so he would get elected.
I believe any sorts of benefit should be a safety net for emergencies, not a form of ongoing income.

i'm sure the poor might disagree with you there

if they have a free roof over there head and food, they are fine. if they sometimes have to choose between food or heat, that is also fine. if they want both they can work.

however, the way this country is going, soon the working people will have to choose between food and heat so that jonny chav and his illiterate brood can upgrade their ipads.

    lunatic country.

and if you're earning more than £60k so that you no longer get CB, then you're fine - get over it.

choose between heat and food - you make the choice - unbeleivable

You make the assumption that you can't be poor and work but 25% of working population earn less than £13k.

Partly due the the fact that topping up wages, actually drives them down as well as driving up housing costs etc.

You are probably right so we are in effect subsidising employers not employees.

    I believe so.

I also believe people should plan their lifestyle to their income, not expect their income to be topped up to match their lifestyle.

It is obvious that is not possible to support 3 or 4 children on a £15k salary - so don't have them.

    15% of 150k would be £22,500 ie 15% not 35%
    15% of £10k would be £1,500 ie 15% not 5%

or am i missing something you're trying to get at?

Yes you are - I said "currently"

All major economies have some sort of tiered/marginal taxation type system for personal earnings
