well chaps its worked , ill delete bitcomet and reinstall , ive also deleted (fixed) the files you mentioned , id already fixed 2 as i recognised them from running counterspy.

another question if you dont mind .... if i reformat and then re-install all my peripherals , router , programs etc , then ghost an image to cdr will i be able to simply reinstall my environment should the same happen again , bit of a mess around all this in the end it took 3 hours , time well invested however because i know it will come up time and time again with a customer

ps i followed major geeks instructions for removing spyware adaware .

    thanks again chaps

yes the ghost will allow you to go back to a "clean" enviroment easily and quickly, you could also "slipstream" xp and all the drivers onto a disk for re-install like this

    or better still this

  • Neil.. You didn't read any of my posts did you?:

You need to look for things you don't know... for example the last line! So wltrysvc.exe - never heard of that, so google it...
"wltrysvc.exe is a "Broadcom Corporation Wireless Network Tray Applet See also: Link "

I stated this first, and also after every thing I said to remove I explained why! !!!

I have not said "delete explorer.exe" and not anything else!

Why are you criticising? My advice fixed his problem after all so hush please :/

  • Ive got the same problem, so will try & folow the advice on here tommorrow (hungover today) and see if it works as I too have tried all the usual methods mentioned and have installed windows defender tonight, and still getting pop ups.
Bitcomet is the culprit here too I think, it only happens when using the same user as the Bitcomet programme is installed on
will let you know how I get on.

  • Bargain, The biggest and most helpful tool you can use is hijack this. It won't fix the problem but will tell you exactly whats running behind your comp. Then using google you can find out which is spyware :)

  • seem to have got rid of it by using system restore and then runing all applications in safe mode as suggested in the malware removal thread.
didn't want to have to do anything to technical as this has caused me more problems in the past, so fingers crossed.
great info on these threadds though, keep it up.
