I'll have a look at your website in a minute leni
.
Have any of you looked at Scott Woolley Clark's website. He is an American and I get his monthly cake emails sent to me. They are really lovely. The price of his DVD's though and books are rather a little too much for me!

My sister buys all her stuff from Bev's (SPARKLING SUGARCRAFT SUPPLIES) they do demos on Saturdays and she works close with the local colleges that teach cake decoration and gives a discount to those that are studying.
She is in her 3rd year at Bolton college on manchester road the first 2 years she went wednesday nights now she goes on tuesday nights.
She practices loads and has improved loads doing it, the college seems to be just repeating themselves now.
If you are going to be working from home dont forget you need to have a kitchen up to all the health and hygene regulations as you are preparing food.
Here is my sisters site, sorry if its slow but its cheap hosting. I need to update it she has done loads since I last updated it.0 -
South Trafford College also do the abc course, they have a COVE for catering. I don't know if South Manchester is too far for you.0

I'm really pleased you started this thread Mrsjam!
I also want to make cakes but at the minute I just can't afford to go on a course. Plus I'm pregnant, due in September so I won't be the most dedicated student. I have started making cakes for friends though for practice and I bought a lovely book by Peggy Porschen which is fantastic at showing you how to do things. I'm just making cakes for everyone bascically and trying to get some practice in! However with having morning sickness it's not so easy, I now can't stand the smell of royal icing, I'll get over it though......
I think for me I essentially know how to decorate cakes but it's just building up the confidence to go for it. It would be perfect to fit around a baby though... or maybe that is the naivity of a 1st time mum talking!?! I am definately cake obsessed :j!!0 -

NEVER look down at somebody....unless you are helping them up.0 -
hi, i am doing cake decorating at bolton college. i live in manchester too and it only takes around 15 minutes to get there (on a good day!). i am in my last year now, its 4 in total, but you don't have to do all 4 years. it's once a week for 3 hours. the tutor is really good and patient with all the students. i am really enjoying it. its an ABC course and you get a certificate at the end of each year with your grade on. new courses start in september. good luck.0

I have just applied for the introductory cake decorating and sugarcraft course at college in Leeds as I have developed a keen interest in decorating cakes following a long interest in baking them!!
i have set up a website at www.bettysbakes.co.uk if you want to have a look at a couple of the ones i have done (i'm not selling on there though so please don't report me!!) I'll have some more pictures on there tonight.
I'm not sure exactly what qualification the course is for but it's 3 hours a week for a year, and i'm really looking forward to it!!0 -
