How do I find out my mobile number?

If an Orange PAYG handset has a number, it has already been registered on the Orange system and this often happens in Orange retail outlets, where they do it for you, to get their commission for the sale. Other networks O2, Voda, Virgin etc. seem to have the number printed on the SIM packaging.

Not disagreeing with you, just not heard that before. With my own Orange PAYG sim that I got from Orange online it came with a number and I had to activate the number. The sim came as part of a package with a handset so I guess that's why it must be different. So I presume that, as you say, buying a sim on its own from Orange is the exception where you haven't got a number allocated yet. Very strange!! Anyway once peterg1965 gets the sim activated he can still use my above methods to view the number any time, might be a moot point but I found it useful whenever I needed to give my number to someone and hadn't committed it to memory yet."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Agreed, Ericsson now Sony Ericsson handsets have always had this 'display own number' feature, which has now been copied by some other mobile manufacturers and is very useful. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Isn't it as simple as standing next to your friend, ringing his/her mobile from your mobile, then asking him/her to display the number which just rang?
