How do I find out my mobile number?

Options
I have just put a new PAYG SIM in my phone and want to find out the phone number, It doesnt have any credit on it yet so i cannot call another mobile to capture the number. Isn't there a handset code you can put in to find out? The SIM pack did not have the mobile number on it.

The phone is a Sony Ericsson W800i.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure most sonys are the same phonebook > special numbers > my numbers > my mobile

It won't have a number allocated to it until it has been registered with Orange.

You should be able to press either the + or - buttons on the side of the phone from the main screen to give phone info including number.

Yes but until the SIM is actually registered on the Orange system, it will not have a number to display, until it receives the SIM updates. i.e. the number is allocated on registration.

Must have changed. My Orange PAYG sim came with a number. And the last two PAYG sims I've seen (bought by family members) in the last couple of months (one with O2 and other with T-Mobile) both came with numbers. Never occurred to me that a sim would be supplied numberless.

Not wanting to argue superscaper, but Orange have always been different about this and the actual number is sent via a SIM update after registration. If an Orange PAYG handset has a number, it has already been registered on the Orange system and this often happens in Orange retail outlets, where they do it for you, to get their commission for the sale. Other networks O2, Voda, Virgin etc. seem to have the number printed on the SIM packaging.
