You won't get light yorkshire pudding if you use self raising flour it will turn out heavy and very "cakey",If you can't get hold of any plain flour I'd make something else.0

My mother in law makes them with SR flour and they are just like weird cakey things. Nothing like proper Yorkshire puds. Swears she is right to make them like that though!0

suzywoozy, my welsh grandmother was a wonderful cook - but she did this too! They were like savoury sponge cakes - and not in a good way either!0

Apologies in advance if this seems really sad, but i'm so pleased I've just made my first ever home made yorkshire pudding! And it turned out just fine....I think I took it out of the oven a bit too soon as it was a bit flat, but for my first attempt I'm chuffed to bits!
Heres a piccie, DH couldn't wait and had to taste a bit (he's still alive!)"Put the kettle on Turkish, lets have a nice cup of tea.....no sugars for me.....I'm sweet enough"0 -
