ive also got a dell inspiron ......... i notice they are £399 now for the basic model ....although i wouldnt want the 14" screen .....

check out the benchmark tests for this particular processor against the Celeron D 2.8GHz and Celeron 2.8GHz processors. You'll see why it's actually a better processor.

I'm flogging my Inspiron for £250-£300, as it's now been replaced by this lovely notebook. I paid £391 +VAT for it a year ago. I might stick it on ebay.

I notice that these benchmarks were produced by AMD, the guys who manufacture the Sempron! Do you think that these figures are realistic/ accurate? (either way it's a g-r-e-a-t laptop for £290 !)

Tony, I'm sure you can probably find more benchmark tests online. I can't see why AMD would exaggerate their figures, as it would be easy to prove them to be unrealistic if that were the case. I'm taking them as being fairly accurate.

I managed to pick mine up at the Hull store tonight. The guy at the counter said that they knew nothing of the promotion until ppl came in with print offs, which is a good thing or they would have been snapped up by staff.

He also said there were only allowed to sell 2 at that price from each store but there would be further laptops at reduced prices coming up in the next few weeks .......... so all that missed out - keep your eyes peeld.

Thanks to the poster for this. I already have a laptop but its a much lesser speck, I will sell it to pay for my new one.

hmm their t+c's seem a bit bad for them
surely some greedy person will edit the confirmation page using frontpage and then go into PCW and kick up a fuss?
