Tesco Broadband reviews ...their service any good?

 Hi fellow MSErs - please help....

I'm now in the last month of Plusnet's Value BB/phone service:

Plusnet

MB: 20MB - actual is 4-7MB
download: 10gb monthly capping - but unlimited after midnight (have downloaded, at most, around 100GB in a month - making the most of the unlimited periods).

Line rental: free evenings/weekends (£12.99).

Contract: 12 months

Now I've recently seen the ad for Tesco's BB/phone service.
I understand that Tesco is:

Tesco

Contract: 12 months
Line rental: £13.75
MB: 20MB
Download: "Unlimited" according to FUP
BB price: £2.50 (for 12 months).

But before I make a leap...

How do people rate them on
 Customer service
 Technical probs
 Actual speed (vs 'official' speeds)
 What is their FUP?
 Overall rating: Tesco vs Plusnet vs other other providers?

When I rang Plusnet on a technical matter last week (lost BB connection - their supplier's service went down for a whole day), I also asked about retention and I was told I'll have to wait til my contract is very close to expiration before anything could be done.

TIA everyone - all your thoughts/reviews/experiences are welcome! :)

I'm with Plusnet and I thoroughly happy with them (will be upgrading to FTTC soon so double my usage). They may traffic shape, but at least they're open with it (you can also get the Pro add-on to cut out the traffic shaping).

Pingu: you can usually get better deals if you join online and go through Quidco, or possibly another cashback site.

Just joined sky for telephone and broadband unlimited. £5 per month for the first 9 months, then £10 per month (+£12.25) line rental, to include free weekend and evening calls. Also had to pay a £10 activation fee, but will also be getting £100 cashback from Quidco. Not sure if the deal is still on, but thats what I got when I joined up 11 days ago. Good luck.

    Thank God for that.

I've just signed up to tesco, and am waiting to go live on 30/4/12.
Since I replied, I have heard mainly negative reviews about cr&p speeds and faulty routers. Any good reveiews are from people who have been with tesco years.
I wonder if they are deteriorating.

I don't really want the hassle of changing suppliers but at the same time, I need a decent speed. They said 9-13mb which suits me, as I am crawling along with an old modem, but user reviews say the speed is not what it says.

    How

    Hi Pingu

I have the T&C's here for tesco, but it doesnt say you can cance within 3 months.
PS bad tesco reviews regarding speed and connections are why I am thinking of cancelling.
  • Tesco is the worst one of all calling me at 23.30pm to tell me my fault is fixed waking the hole family up and to do i find out that when they log telephone calls eg the phone number they also store the numbers u enter on telephone banking showing my telephone pin numbers and account numbers which i was told this is the way they do it how un safe...

I am sure bt talktalk and sky dont store other info only the telephone number called for billing reasons
