Hopefully posting in time for autism awareness day, got this sent to me and I cried, as you know my DS has ASD:
Please don’t try to judge me,
Just because I’m not like you.
    You may not understand me,
Or understand the things I do.
You often stand and stare at me,
When I meltdown in the street.
You think that I don’t see you
Because my eyes and your’s don’t meet.
Your world and mine are different,
I don’t see things as you do.
You may see a field of flowers,
I will see a drop of dew.
    Loud noises often scare me,
I may spin, and flap or shout.
Children may try to play with me,
Yet I seem to shut them out.
You see, its hard to see I’m different,
For on the outside I’m like you.
    You often think I’m naughty
With the things I sometimes do.
But I don’t choose to hurt you,
Or to break the rules each day.
I don’t mean to make you mad,
When I have to run away.
I sometimes need to be alone,
I just need a little space.
The world can be so hard for me,
It can feel a scary place.
My skin can hurt when you touch me,
And my ears hurt when you shout.
If to many things are happening,
I cant work my senses out.
If you could try to understand me,
Just walk a mile into my world,
See what Autism is all about,
    Some of my mysteries unfirl,
For I want to be accepted,
I just don’t know where to start.
I know my mind is different,
But my heart is like your heart.
My eyes cry tears like yours do,
My heart feels love and pain,
We all have things that scare us,
But for me its wind and rain.
If you want to make a difference,
Then try to see the good not bad.
    I’m Autistic, I’m not naughty,
And please don’t blame my mum and dad.
There the one’s that understand me,
They love me for who I am.
They don’t judge me, or condemn me.
But feel proud to hold my hand.
    They fight my every battle,
By my side, they stand up tall,
Understand me when I melt down,
And pick me up each time I fall.
There are many others like me,
But we’re all different and unique,
    Autism is all around you,
    In your neighbourhood, or street.
If I ask of you just one thing,
Then see my world, as I see yours,
Learn about the path that I walk,
    Open windows, and open doors.
    Remove the ignorance around us,
Stop the judging and the stares,
Help and love me, don’t condemn me,
    Answer both my parents prayers

How touching im sat in bed blubbing

A member of my family had dispraxia after a head injury, really awful thing to witness. He couldn't move properly, couldn't release grip, hated noise, and weirdly couldn't tell if he was too hot. This used to cause sickness. Some people don't understand these things, I certainly still don't understand it fully, but knowing what some people are going through, I don't half feel lucky.
Thanks for the info on the journey, he has a good idea now of where he is going.

My other DS is dyspraxic and also has dyscalculia. The term they use is Development Co-ordination Disorder and yes they have many aspects which cross over on the Autism/ADHD/Aspergers spectrum. The school has been great for him and we also used DORE which made a massive difference to his co-ordination problems.
There are many children and adults that are undiagnosed out there who may benefit from help

One of the main troubles my brother had was trying to understand the words on the page, it was described to me at the time as being like dyslexia in that it's a learning difficulty but with processing the words rather than reading them.

I actually also looked up tourettes after finding out that only some forms are to do with swearing, and feel relatively certain he had this. Unfortunately there was no talking to him back then (and now we don't talk!), but he's 24 now so hopefully he's either grown out of most of it or sought help.

I bought loads of the funny violent and vicious vegetable ones (1.99), they crack me up - silly jokes (and I think witty too) designed around vegetable characters (some bit rude)
    - probably have to see to know what I am on about. Apart from that cheapest other cards I saw were childrens at £1.80.

I LOVE those!! I always giggle remembering that joke "two peanuts are walking down the street, one was a salted!" :rotfl: I'm easily pleased!

The carrot got past the peeler.......but grater danger lay just around the corner :rotfl:
