I have been told by "friends" that I must be rich as I bought an 11 plate car last yr, no I'm not rich but the massive sayings I have made due to this site had enabled me to have nicer things

    Thankyou Decay.

i just have to smile at all our friends who don't get this - and the odd poster!! I reckon folks around here are just pure snobby. I suggested to someone a couple of years ago buying something in bulk at Lidl. Her response: Shuddered and said "eeurgh, no way, my body is my temple and I just couldnt put that cheap muck in it" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: We barely speak now!! Sad to say she's had a lot of lesser style health probs with her temple recently too - is there some irony there?;)

Have to say that up until our lives were turned upside down through hubby & me being made redundant and stumbling across this forum a couple of years ago, I would have been one of those 'turn your nose up' kind of people. Always in Marks & sparks buying tea:eek:, brand named food:eek: designer clothes:eek: £300 a month on fags:eek: buying stuff on C/cards coz I knew the salaries would be coming in
Boy do I wish I had known then what I know now!! We are less in debt now than before & have better food! We get to go to some great places on the cheap through advice on here and the main board and when we have some disposable income it goes soooo much further. Christmas used to be horrendous with atleast £500 of it chucked on a credit card, the last two have been a breeze and I'm already on the way to making this years a success. So thank you to all you wonderful people, I couldn't do it without you xxxxxx

an old lady nearly made me cry in tesco today.:o
i was putting some bread flour in my trolley and she came over and was uhmming and ahhhing over the flour on the shelf. i offered her a voucher and she said "bless you my dear, i didnt have enough money to buy the flour:(.thank you dear" i was walking to the tills all wet eyed. i waited near the door until she came out and gave her a handful of coupons.
to her say. "ohh lovey i cant take them all." i told her to take them and enjoy the bread.
i sat in the car, thinking about her, and feeling good how i helped her, but also the other times when people think your a 2 headed wierdo when you offer them coupons.
then there was a tap on the window. the old lady had followed me to the car . she wanted to make sure i had enough coupons for myself. i said yes. when she had gone i burst into tears. :o such a lovely lady, who only had thought of somebody else before herself.
life is like a loo roll. the nearer the end you get, the faster it goes.

I visited a few T's yesterday as I was out and about visiting family organising a trip for my brothers birthday next month.

Did notice the phone offers had run out yesterday but no OOD SELs.. No 1p chocolate or no DTD in any store.

I did notice alot of staff on all the shop floors though. And managers too.. In one of the stores I commented I'd never seen so many staff on the shop floor (there were almost as many staff as customers) and was told that they were changing the layouts of T's.. I saw this mentioned one or two times in this thread and wonder if this is nationwide.

It must be all stores, a lot of things have been moved around in my local too, its a pain when you're in a rush as you cant find anything!!!

I haven't been on here much over the last few days, and have managed to catch up this morning, and this is a quickie. Have more to post later, including a possible glitch on the 'voucher knives' ;)

a delightful tale , many thanks MMW , in a few years many of us will be that old woman/old man (then a few years later all you youngsters will be her/him) , wouldn't it be nice if someone was still around when we reach old age to offer us a helping hand or a free coupon for a loaf of bread .
Lets preserve this essential forum /thread so all can benefit .

The old lady wasn't worried about DTD , JTD , USB , LSD , JSL ...she just wanted the basics and couldn't afford them ,what a sorry situation for anyone to find themselves in :(
