I'm being totally serious! Was this what started the 1p knife thingy??

It's a recalled transaction receipt and it says: -

Utility knife £14.99
TOTAL £14.99
Wispa duo 0.79

TOTAL £15.78
TCC Knife 0.01

SUB-TOTAL £15.79

Multibuy savings
Knife offer -£10.51

TOTAL TO PAY £5.28

That must be something to do with the coupons or to make the discount 70% because the total is correct

Wispa 79p
knife £4.49 ( after discount)
total £5.28
:(

"Diamorphine (heroin) is fast and effective, especially in someone unused to the drug and already weak. First it induces coma, followed by respiratory depression, and death. For the hospital, this has the advantage of having the patient slip away quickly and quietly without any fuss. Diuretics cause dehydration, and although the result is ultimately the same as with diamorphine the patient may survive, conscious, for up to a week even with the imposition of a 'Nil by mouth' regimen. Relatives who do not know the signs of dehydration may be tricked into believing that the rapid deterioration is due simply to the underlying illness."

Regarding NHS - When my mother died 15 years ago, she was very ill in hospital with breathing problems. She had been in and out of hospital constantly for about five years. A doctor came in the room and asked her various questions such as who was the current prime minister, what was the date etc. She answered them all correctly. They gave her a morphine injection and another one shortly after. Then she died. The injections killed her. I told her GP the next day and he said that the morphine injections had speeded up her her death but she would have probably lived only a few more days and would have struggled to breathe. To be honest, I've always thought that the NHS killed her. I have to agree with Magicowen.
I have posted in support of the experiences of Celebrate but was going to add some personal experience along the same lines as you have posted. I have always felt very uncomfortable about how my mother died in hospital but have never been sure whether, at the end of the day, it would have made any difference if we insisted on further treatment or had the funds to take her elsewhere. My mother was, as far as I'm concerned, killed off early by the syringe pump injection of diamorphine(don't judge this comment yet).

We were told that that there was little that could be done to keep her going and they were withdrawing support to allow her to die. They expected that this could take several days. In the meantime they put her on the diamorphine but within minutes of this starting she died. I was shocked and a little bit angry to see her go so quickly. This clearly, to me, killed her but I was in no mood to take it up as one part of me was relieved but the other confused. The moral question for me here is whether this was technically euthanasia? To this day I still wonder about it.. should I have pressed for more help?...was it in the end the best thing?

Didn't someone say the SA scans a barcode sheet after scanning the knife, then scans the coupons. Could it be the barcode sheet is the 1p?
