Re 'man-things'....I notice lots of casual/sporty stuff around. I can recall buying a Goretex walking jacket, a down gilet thingy, several packs of brand new socks and some T shirts in the last couple of years. Strangely my local Oxfam seems to get some nice shirts from the higher end of the designers - usually priced at £7.95! Pretty hopeless for anything smart, (like a suit), tho.
Passing by my local community chazza on Saturday they had a load of lovely orchid plants in nice pottery planters...only 75p each..couldn't resist even though I am the kiss of death to houseplants usuallyYa just never know what ya is gonna come across next do ya, which is what I suspect keeps drawing us back.

A Gro Company 6-18 month 1tog baby sleeping bag for £1.00, usual full price between £16-25.00.
Two pairs of skinny jeggings for me. £5.00 the pair. I've had two old pairs fail recently. Too much walking with the buggy and squatting to the floor with DS lolCredit Card & Overdraft Debts Jan 2012: £16,000+ [STRIKE] Credit Card & Overdraft Debts Sep 2013: £13,023 [/STRIKE]

Whereas I heard it called The Vegas Effect & find either easy to understand just one more simple to spell. Also oddly faster to understand by some. <shrug> Humans are strange but their generous donations make cs rummaging So Much Fun!
Which is why I'll break nearly every rule in the Highway Code to get to an unexpected Jumble Sale.0 -
Men, if they're anything like my husband, tend to hang onto their clothes for so long so by the time they're ready to be discarded, you'd be embarrassed to give them to a tramp, let alone a charity shop!
I suspect that if you come across some reasonable men's clothing, it is either because they have drastically put on weight and can't squeeze into it any more or the wearer has passed away.0 -

I must be having a senior, blonde moment cos I can't quite 'get' The Vegas EffectThe Urban Dictionary describes it as:-
"The phenomenon whereas anger and frustration lead to poor performance/mistakes which in turn lead to more anger and frustration resulting in a "feed back loop" which is amplified with every cycle."??!!
So I'm puzzled! I was thinking more of 'random wins' mebbe??
Anyhoo...my little walkette this afternoon found me a nice little Ted Baker, chiffon, sleeveless top with a knotted front in a cream colour with keys, (yes keys?!) printed on it. And it was on the £1 rail. Weighs next to nothing so will be great for hols abroad.0 -
My apologies - I'd only heard the Vegas effect as being the term that describes how/why the occasional small win keeps you going back to just try one more time. Startled to find my innocuous thoughts being googled & then what I'd understood being totally base over apex!
I'm going for another cup of tea. That's reliable (so far!).
Yeay a Ted Baker top, easy to pack, fun to wear & a single pound! Excellent find!0 -

Today I popped into an Oxfam and bought 2 books for 99p each, 2 ultra-girly mugs (big one for me, small one for my mini-me AKA niece) for 99p and a pair of smart embroidered jeans for my niece for 99p. Quite happy with my haul for less than £4.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hope is not a strategy...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!
