Bought a full set of 1950s Sheffield EPNS cutlery in original case with original tissue paper and guarantee for a tenner. The case is a bit worn but I don't think the cutlery has been used, I think it was probably a wedding present 'saved for best'. I love it and it will now be used and enjoyed.

I'm trying to get out of the habit of "saving things for best" and make use of the lovely things I own. i bought an expensive cutlery set a few years ago and kept it for best until I realised that using heavy cutlery made a meal much better than the cheap stuff we used everyday. It might sound crazy but good cutlery is now one of my OS pleasures daily.

That blooming' Nigella has a lot to answer for......:p;)

I watched her Chrimbo special the other night and was intrigued by her bundt pans, (no sniggering!). So, today I am browsing through the bric a brac in the Oxfam shop when I comes across, yep you guessed it.....a bundt pan!! Half the size of Nige's, brand new and very heavy. Lots of intricate little ridges and pointy bits.... so cute and priced at £1.49 - I just could not resist even tho I do not bake and hate cooking! So now I'm gonna have to find a recipe to try it out aint I?

    It's all Nigella's fault :rotfl:

I'd never heard of bundt pans but watched Nigella this morning.
    How fab!
And what a bargain for you! :T
  • I'm fairly new to CS shopping but I am hooked already!

Made a couple of mistakes (bought 2 dresses with the size labelled incorrectly - can only assume that's why they were in the CS in the first place), but I'm slowly starting to pay more attention to what I'm picking up and am determined to review my local CS's before buying gifts and clothes new going forward.

Whilst it's still early days, my best find so far is a photo album for one of my secret santa presents at work which, having found it online, actually retails for £5 more than I paid. Not the biggest saving, but £5 is £5!

Will make sure I check in and keep you updated on any other finds :)

Yesterday dh and I popped into a cs for the local hospice and got some fab things.
We got a pin board covered in cath kidston cowboy fabric. It looks brand new and is our dd aged 21 favourite fabric. She is a bit kooky fashion wise so will be a lovely stocking filler for her. Amazon have them for £35 plus delivery! I bought a cord coat originally from marks and spencer ( I had wanted one a couple of years ago but couldn't brink myself to pay the £90 in m&s) for £6. Some bomb boxed soaps for £1.50 currently on Amazon for £13. A red table runner from m&s great for the Xmas table for £2.50 similar selling for £15 and a massive China platter for Xmas turkey for £5. I've looked it up on the Internet and it is Victorian and quite a famous make. Then as I was leaving I spotted an immaculate gilet by crew clothing for £4.50. I'd looked at buying her one for Xmas but couldn't bring myself to pay nearly £70 so I snapped it up and it can go under the tree as an extra.

Today I popped into another cs and bought a pair of full length curtains they have obviously cost a fortune originally as had goblet headings, fully lined and a contrast leading edge, all for the bargain price of £10. I love cs shopping as you can get things you could never normally afford
  • Some excellent finds there bobsa1! Especially the Cath Kidston notice board, I'm sure your daughter will be chuffed with that!

I really hope she likes it. Her present pile was looking a bit light size wise compared to her two sisters so this should bulk things out if nothing else!

Just remembered another bargain. Last week took some things to the tip and went to the reuse centre. I got a 7ft 6 Christmas tree originally from home base and still with the £149 price ticket on for £2. Our tree probably won't do another year do we thought this was a bargain
  • I picked up large bag with a Littlest Pet Shop playset in it. Little did I know it had 3 playsets and 30 Littlest Pets in it. It was a bit grubby but cleaned up well. My little one will love it when I give it to her in the new year (once the Christmas toys have lost their magic). Best of all it was only £4 for the lot!

I also picked up a gorgeous M&S spot mug for 20p, they are still selling for £8.50! Happy bunny indeed.

Pair of black M&S straight leg trousers in a half price sale for £1.90. Perfect fit, which is a little disconcerting as they are a 14 and I'm normally a 12, and we haven't even had the over-indulgence season yet! :o .

Set of two Sainsburys towels in deep purple, one bath size and one hand/hair size, £4 the pair. They are as new, I've just washed them and put them away for best or guests :) .

Yesterday I picked up a blue mug priced 19p on a table sale outside Oxfam, and it turned out to be not china but Melaware (melamine), which when I Googled it appears to be quite collectable. I liked it because it's unbreakable and will be ideal for my travels. It is also Made in England, which is so unusual these days! :T
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

  • All leather finds for me this week. Took OH into town and he reluctantly went into the charity shops with me. We have a drill, I point, air hostess style, to the whereabouts of the mens stuff as we go in each shop. First shop in and he's waving to me from the mens section, holding up a gorgeous Linea leather jacket with detachable wool collar, just £7.99. Two sizes too small but he tries it on and it fits, job done.

I found a beautiful pair of unworn cream leather gloves, for £1.50, and a brand new with tags black suede skirt from The Vestry, also £1.50, not sure if I will actually wear the skirt or just wanted to own it, but at that price I wasn't going to leave it!
