Today - a beautiful bone china, hand painted Japanese dinner service. Of course bits were missing but it was still gorgeous and all the little plates that are "leftover" will be used for decoration/repurposing. Anyway there was no price displayed so I asked. £10. Excellent. Then as it had quite a few pieces missing I asked if they'd take a pound or two off. He charged me £6!! I was delighted. I also bought a couple of other things but for something this lovely ... I was over the moon.
    Looking ahead

Had a trot round a different town today and got a Fiorelli cross body bag for £1.50. Looks new. Had a look online to see how much they go for and theres the same bag as mine and its £39!!! Why would someone pay that for a bag and use it maybe once then give it away. Im happy they did though.
I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round

I have a question....set aside a couple of hours yesterday to have a charity shop trawl and picked up a couple of good books for 50p each and a warm scarf (yet another one!) for the winter. Am in two minds about buying a nearly-new upholstered item for a baby, which looks clean enough....does anyone have advice on how to make it hygienically clean for use? I don't think the cover can be removed and laundered.

I would try steam cleaning it. Should remove any odours as well as sterilising/kiling any germs etc. HTH
