Houses prices rise again.

  • Actually, asking prices don't mean didly. The asking price is the price those sellers have decided that they will sell at. Many, won't sell until they reach their *asking price* Estate Agents come up with an asking price based on what houses are selling at. Buyers can offer all the silly sums in the world below a sellers asking price, doesn't mean that seller will sell at that price does it. Asking price is very relevant. I don't know anyone who sold for less than asking price, even over the last few years. Maybe this happens on sink estates or places like inner Liverpool where you can get mugged or attacked the minute you leave you home etc, but not in most of the country. I think you just don't like the good news that houses are not going down!

Town centre apartments are down to 35k here, they were built during the boom and were first sold for 100/120k.

About 9 for sale in the same block now, 7 are repos.

I wouldnt say they have dropped like a stone as it has taken some time to get to this level of falls, more like dropping like a feather.

The house you mention that has been up for sale for 14 years, is it by any chance next door to your house ?

You'll always get repos in poor areas, repos happened during the boom. There are always some who fail to pay or cannot pay, that's the nature of life.

If a house in that area has been up for 14 years and is now on sale for 50p and is still for sale at 50p it must be a right dump is all I can say and no self-respecting human would want to live anywhere near there! so your example is silly. It's not reflective of the UK as a whole, not by a long shot. So many silly comments from those that wished for a crash or hoped for one as they are renters. Ridiculous!

Goodness me! I'm female and don't even like most of Mr Ree's posts myself, I am merely giving my opinion. You fool yourself Sir, paranoia is a bad trait and totally unfair on a public forum just because you don't like what I had to say. Never mind! Do your stuff, I had thought you were an OK guy before and they were being unfair, but we all make mistakes.

FungusFighter, do you not think you look like an utter moron banging on about alias accounts constantly while using your own alias account to do so?

Well thats the type of board this is becoming, and it is why I will not be using it as often, too many nutters.

For example someone from here who uses a profile photo of a poster to then physically try and trace that member, and then when he thinks he has found him also puts the address of that person on an internet site to which he never gave his permission.

    Now thats disturbing.

My parent's neighbours have just sold at below asking price, and the area is anything but a "sink estate".

Not saying that selling below asking is commonplace (it may or not be), but I can assure you that it does go on.

I guess it all depends on the need to sell and how quickly one has to sell as to if it is worthwhile or necessary to sell below asking price.

Not sure about rises locally, there seems to be a small movement upwards but this is after a crash.

I must say was never waiting for a crash I was clearing debts and saving, while doing that prices crashed and by sheer luck I bought at the bottom if they do go up.

PS I don't want them to go up and I am quite happy for them to reduce further.
