Unidentified calls at 11.59 pm every night for 2 weeks

Hi,
I'm at my wits end here an hope someone can help me out.
For the past 2 weeks, I have been receiving a call at exactly 11.59pm every night. When I answer the phone, no-one is there. The weird thing is...........when I do a 1471, the call is not detailed. For example, if someone had phoned me earlier in the day at say 4pm, this is the call that is registered.
Are BT testing the line or is there something else going on? I had my master socket moved from the hall to the bedroom in November 2011 but doubt if the problem would just have surfaced.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

We used to get this in our old house, the ring was really short, but would wake us up every night. I rang BT, they said we needed a bell tinkle suppressor, they sent us one.....problem solved. Hope u manage to sort it OP

Hi, thanks for the info. but I haven't requested any alarm calls. I had an engineer out last week and he couldn't detect any faults on the line. So fed up with this.............
A "bell tinkler suppressor" ????

It would cost a small amount but get BT to install anonymous call reject on your line. It will stop all incoming calls where number has been withheld and all anonymous International calls like Indian scam call centres. You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0

ACR is NOT the answer. This type of call rejection only works if the callerr has actually supperssed their number. If the call is from a firm who call out with NO number informatiion (as opposed to withholding it) the call will continue. Quite a few PABXs are set up this way, so (for example) police and hospitals can call those with ACR. It is a loophole that should never have been allowed.0

.....and quite a few of these "scam" calls come from what are, apparently, UK numbers eg 0203 xxxxxx:(ACR is NOT the answer. But the OP does not get a "We do not have the number ....." response to 1471 so it must be an automated network test of some sort.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

My new phone did that, i was going nuts thinking i had a stalker. Turns out it was an alarm set to that time on the phone.Disabled it and no more calls.0

If so, dialling *#55# should prove/disprove it and #55# should cancel it.georgiesmum wrote: »My new phone did that, i was going nuts thinking i had a stalker. Turns out it was an alarm set to that time on the phone.

However, I thought Reminder Calls could only be set if you subscribed to a Calling Features Pack.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
