Wow Gratis way to over think things, did you not know F1 was on?

    At 3:57 pm?

Not here, it wasn’t, matey! Sky F1 HD was up and running in our own (debt-free!) property in England at 6:00 am this morning (likewise, yesterday). The race was over and won by 8:00 am! :p

We opened a bottle of champagne and toasted Jenson with it over breakfast. :T

    Thanks for the reply's.

My mum still lives at the address, however i have not told Sky this as far as they a concerned i have only told them my mum had the previous account.

Sky refuse to give me any information on the account, data protection i know, however how can i solve something they will not tell me about, will get my mum to phone them.

I thought a company could blacklist a person financially and it was illegal to balcklist an address?

Why not just go for Freesat or Freeview instead?

They will be able to see your mum still lives at the address, they won't need you to tell them...

As for the blacklist comment, they can do whatever they like, nothing illegal in what they have done.

So why didn't you just hand the phone to your Mum to sort out the outstanding amount query there and then ? They haven't blacklisted your address-they've simply declined to provide any more services at that address to another family member until the previous balance is cleared. As your Mum still lives there it's not like she wouldn't have known about the outstanding balance as the bills would have gone to that address. Should be very easy to sort out once the balance is cleared.

I have been in contact with Sky most of the week and have to say i am not impressed with them as a company, however wanted to get their services.

Seems clear you are not going to get them without the debt being paid. As suggested above find out how much and then pay or choose an alternative supplier.

I'm still chuckling that the OP is so unimpressed -because Sky expect a debt to be paid . What planet do some people live on ?

Seems instead of spending "most of the week talking to Sky" a conversation with his/her Mum might have resolved the situation more effectively.

What's still not clear is why the (alleged) debt was not pursued until collection nine and ten years ago.

Unless the mother was bankrupted or entered into an IVA, it would only be left unpursued if it was for an amount that was so petty it was uneconomic to collect.

In which case, it would probably not cost a lot to pay off now unless accrued interest on it has been applied at an extortionate rate. (Compound interest over ten years can increase a debt multifold. )

I went to install a system in a ground floor flat in East Belfast, when I told the tennant I couldn't install due to the large block of flats blocking line of sight to the satalite,he got verbally abusive & then started to get physically abusive, throwing my tools at me.
When I called dispatch, the girl tried to call him & he got verbally abusive with her so he was then blocked from getting Sky services in the future.
