Advice on First Plus PPI Claim Please
Comments

Hi Beverly,
I just wanted to let you know that after reading your post I am definitely going to make the effort to do my claims, I wasn't sure it's worth the hassle.
I don't know who first plus are but I do have several banks/providers that I need to contact.
I'm getting married next year so anything I might get back is worth the effort I suppose!!
Thank you xDebt Free Target: December 2011
:T I did it in November 2011!! :T0 -
Morning
Honestly I hadnt thought about doing it but kept seeing items on the news about ppi and Im subscribed to Martins weekly emails too so plenty of good advice comes through that. And then I went to see my neice who said she was putting in claims and I should check all my previous credit agreements for ppi. I already knew first plus had it on but thought I wouldnt stand a chance but after reading all the advice on here on how to claim and then reading the successes as well as the failures I thought why not ?
So for a couple of hours work , reading things , printing letters and £1.52 recorded delivery cost I am in a position at last to clear some debts we have left. I have to say so far First Plus have been pretty quick in their responses and were helpful on the telephone yesterday when I rang to double check the figures but if I dont get that check in 4 weeks time as advised yesterday I will be all over them like a bad rash
My advice to anyone is please please dont use a claim company - so not worth it, send everything recorded delivery and if at first you dont succeed FIGHT BACK
Still got a few more claims to sort mainly with my bank, the halifax for credit card and previous loans and we are waiting to hear back from endeavour finance as it had single cover on a joint loan and we certainly do not remember ticking the box for ppi and its nothing like our handwriting either.
Goood Luck with your claims and keep us updated the guys here have a wealth of knowledge to share - they are the best Xx:TEveryone needs a little help sometimes :T
Successess So Far Thanks To This Wonderful Site

Hi
Just wanted to let tell you all know, that after reading these threads I have decided to give it a go and go alone with claiming my PPI with First plus. (As I am currently using a claims Team for my Welcome Loan, which has been with them for 6 months and FOS 4 months now)
I took out a large secured loan for around £20k & PPI March 2005 and paid it off September 2007 £30,396. Unsure of the exact loan amount as I have not got any documentation. I have posted a SAR letter requesting copy's of agreements etc... which they received and signed for on the 10/04/12, so fingers crossed:)0 -
Well done for you not using a claims co.
Do you have the letter that I posted on the forum with the reasons for mis sell of this PPI? if you do, then when you get the account number send the letter asap back to FP and sit and wait for the upheld letter !!.0 -
I don't have the letter you posted with the reasons for mis sell on PPI! if you could link this that would be great thanks

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe it was mis sold, as I work for a family business and would get pay for sickness / illness etc.. also my husband at that time worked for a company that had sickness benefits in place.0 -
You do not need any other reasons for mis sell but this letter!!.
We/I believe we were mis sold the ppi on the above account number, and would like recordings,if any to the contrary of my/our reasons for mis sell set out below.
1)We/I were not told that the ppi was in effect another loan that was added to the original loan and was repayable over the loan term with interest.
2) We/I were told that the ppi was a 5 year policy, but not told the ppi would still be on the loan to term end with interest.
3) We/I were told that if we did not make a claim,or go into arrears on the ppi ,after 5 years we would receive the cashback of ppi but were not told this would not include the interest made on these payments that we paid over the 5 years.
In line with the FOS recommendations it is requested that the overall situation be restored as if PPI had never been included. This will entail:
A refund of the monthly payments that have actually been paid towards the overall loan in excess of those that would have been needed, if the original loan had been sold without the PPI policy.
In addition, interest at the rate of 8% simple per annum to any excess payments made from the time each payment was made to the point that Barclays pays them back to us. We/i believe we were not given enough information on this ppi to make an informed decision. Had we/i known the full cost of this ppi we would not have taken it.
Unless you can prove without doubt that this PPI policy was fair, reasonable and suitable for my/our circumstances we/I will require you to rearrange the loan as if PPI had never been included on the above loan0 -
Thank you x0

Hi,
I have sent a claim in to FP and got my letter today saying that they are looking into it and will get back to me by mid June...odd thing was there is another letter in a seperate envelope saying that they have looked at my loan and there was no PPI taken!!
Very odd as there was indeed PPI...and the letters have two different loan numbers on. Now we have only ever had one loan with them, but I have tried to call and of course the lines are closed when us poor devils pick up the post after work!!!
I can't wait to find out what they have done, probably sent me someone elses letter!!0 -
I bet there were not many of these FP loans that did not have PPI on, if this letter is yours, do you have the agreement that shows PPI?.0
