Advice on First Plus PPI Claim Please

Hi

I am a newbie to the forum but was hoping for advice on First Plus?

We took a loan out in 2003 secured against the house we had and basically was sold PPI without any other options , the loan was for:
£25000 Loan
£6112.50 PPI
£311122.50
over 240 mths monthly int rate 0.716% monthly payment £271.90 loan repayments started 1.5.03.

we then unfortunately got into difficulty and the house was sold at auction and after the mortgage was paid FirstPLus recieved £28621.29 partial settlement and we had £2931.82 left to pay to which they added £3268.98 interest and £150 fee. we made arrangement to pay off each month, last year thought we paid it off to find they had defferred more interest. Complained to Financial Ombudsman who have since made a decision we have no case so we have to pay another £1800 to Firstplus.

When we took the loan out we wasnt given any advice other than it was needed to cover if one of us was ill! Looking at my documents the PPI would only have covered us for 60 months anyway so do we have a valid claim for PPI even though we did get into arrears and then they recieved a partial settlement and we had to finish off paying what was left and still are because of this deferred interest ?

This is my first attempt at PPI claims so not sure what to expect from first plus especially since we complained about them but I have followed Martins advice and used the templates also what are they supposed to pay back if anyone is successful?

Thanks In advance for any advice

You need to find out if it was FP that sold you this loan and ppi, due to the year they may have used a broker and if they did you may not recourse from these for mis sell of ppi, find out who the loan was from and we will take it from there.
  • Hi

thankyou so much for your reply , Ive just gone through my paperwork and I have a booklet about the ppi cover whic is first plus and a a summary of cover which says firstplus. No where does it say on these two documents that it is governed by another company. My letter went recorded delivery so Im sure first plus will be back in touch if its not them. :o

Ive marked the 8 wk timescale on my calender so fingers crossed , cant believe the success people on the forum are having its a glimmer of hope for everyone :j

  • Hi

quick update on our claim , sent my claim off recorded delivery 16th march have now recieved 1st correspondence from first plus acknowledging our letter stating they are sorry to we have had to contact them re our ppi. They have stated they will reply to our complaint no later than 16th may 2012 so we will have to sit back and wait now. On a positive note at least they have responded swiftly as reading some posts I see people are having trouble with responses.

    Will keep you updated
