  • On the Blue Badge website, it clearly states that the disability must be severe and permanent in order to get a badge in the first place.

Once the badge has been issued ( in my friend's case, after much badgering of the GP!), presumably that is good enough for Thames Water

    - assuming your friend is not 'passported' with HRMDLA .. ..
    - if your friend secured a BB by the simple 'badgering' of a GP s/he has'nt a chance in hell of renewal
    - GP's are out~of~the~loop and O/T's are in with a tough new measurement criteria from this year

NOTE: All LA's should have rolled out the new BB scheme from Jan 1st this year, all applicants are independently assessed.

  • The friend was visited by somebody from the council, discussing 'stress'. This person had cared for an elderly parent (not alive at that point) and had then suffered from breast cancer (previously). The physical disability was hip pain and a little arthritis in the hands.

For this, the reward is not only parking, but a lush garden...

I phoned our water company to ask if I could fill up our grandkids 12ft paddling pool, I was told that I couldnt fill it using a hose pipe but could fill it by filling up buckets of water from the tap in the garden and pouring them into the pool, I asked what the difference was as I would still be using the same amount of water, her reply was, there is a hosepipe ban so you just cant use a hosepipe.

I went out tonight with my wife (who is a Blue Badge holder) and told her that she must hold the hosepipe as I can't be seen to be touching it. I pushed her along and she merrily watered every plant, bush, tree and seedling - bless her. I warned her that she must not allow water to seep into the next door garden, nor must she allow water to drip on the driveway or paths.

It felt really good with all the neighbours watching and knowing that we will have the best blooms this year!

    When we finished everyone clapped!!!!

Felt like we had won a small battle for the ordinary man/woman in the street!

Age 65 may apply to a couple of areas, does it ?. That's news to me other than Thames.

Of course if you connected your hosepipe to your tap, layered it out to the end of your garden, and filled up your watering can with your hose at the end of your garden

    - your hosepipe is no longer functioning as a hosepipe
    - it can't be called a hosepipe
    - it's a flexible extension of your plumbing :D
good try but no still comes under use a hosepipe
