Just spoken to Southern Water, Once we got over what a Blue Badge actually was (no I'm not kidding), they are interpreting things differently and will exempt holders on a case by case nature.

I wonder how many Blue Badge holders use Southern Water? They're going to have a hell of a lot of phone calls!

If I watered my 87 year old mum's plants and garden for her, as she has severe arthritus in both her hands and a frozen shoulder plus 2 hip replacements and we have just applied for a blue badge (hope we get one)... would I be fined or prosecuted ??0

I don't know why we're worrying anyway. If the summer of 2012 is anything like most of our previous summers, it'll bucket down constantly from April to October...!0

You would be expected to use a watering can if you are fit and healthy enough to do so on her behalf.
This country is unable to cope with water and snow it seems!“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
She is over 65 anyhow in her own right so her garden is exempt no matter who does the watering.
No, the exemption only applies if the 65 yr old is doing the watering, you can't get round the ban by saying there is a pensioner in the house unless it's they who are using the hose.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -

No..... Read what paddedjohn states. The "garden" is not exempt - only the person watering said garden is, and if the person watering is not a BB holder etc then the exemption does not apply to them.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -

Oooo, I can see a great career opening for the over 65s and BB holders! We could offer our hose-watering services, and charge a fee!:j
