I don't like the feel of them when they come out of the dryer so I dry on the line in nice (hoho) weather and the radiator if it's not.0

I use a clothes horse & radiators, although OH hates clothes on the radiators so I usually put it on there when he is out - he is always coming back to a house full of clothes on the radiators. I find it takes too long on the clothes horse, even though I keep the house hot & I am waiting for stuff to dry before I can wash the next load.0

i use my td all the time as i have a very small garden and to hang things out it means i have to zig zag i line across which can be quite precarious when trying to hang washing out ,
can i ask does any one know where i could get one of the old fashioned wooden driers that come down off the ceiling0 -
I got mine from argos several years ago so don't know if they still do 'em! It is fantastic for drying. You can even drip dry on it if you put a washing up bowl underneath!:hello:  please play nicely children !0

We bought a plug in meter from Aldi and DH has had great fun seeing how much electric everything uses in our house... We have an A rated tumble drier, but I was really suprised to see that to run it cost 9p a load, I expected at least 50p.
That said, I don't tumble clothes that have transfers on, shirts, M&S PJs or anything from Tesco! For some reason, the only clothes that have ever shrunk when I've tumbled them have been M&S PJs and Tesco clothes. No idea why.
Wherever possible, I use airers and radiators over the winter and line dry over the summer.0 -
Never owned one- and have managed with 4 kids, despite our first home being a two up two down terrace in the frozen north- with just a single gas fire.Only dead fish go with the flow...0

The tumble drier that was here in the house is now in the garage - I would never use one.
The days are long gone when we only had two changes of clothes to wear so clothes needed dried in a hurry, nowdays even babies have enough clothes to do a week (or more in so many cases) that taking a day or two to dry on the airer in the winter isnt a problem.
I also have two clothes lines outside - one in the garden and one in the car port - for those windy wet days that we get constantly here in NI0 -
I tumble dry anything that isn't delicate. We don't have enough space in the house to dry things on radiators (and even in this weather, the heating is almost never on - we're quite lucky, the house doesn't get cold very quickly), and can't dry things outside.
We used to have an electricity pre-pay meter, and didn't really notice any difference in usage when we were running the drier to when we weren't - but it is a fairly new drier.DFW Nerd No. 140
