How have you applied to Good Energy?
If postal, then they ask for a reading from receipt of your application, so could lose the first few days.

We emailed our app, but due to me being knackered it sat in draft folder not sent!
We lost 25kWh generation from the Friday afternoon commissioning through to Monday am when I realised my boo-boo!

They take absolutely ages to confirm any details, and don't expect to get any paperwork until long after you submit your first reading.
Oh, and don't expect any payment in anything like their stated times!

    Good luck though!

I emailed the application. Went with them as the installer recommended them but sounds like it might have been a mistake!

So do i just wait now?

Hope they will take a zero meter reading?

0 for a gen meter? I was told they always start at something to show that they have been tested correctly; may be wrong, but rare. ;)

Haha yes. Also as we both work during the day Mon - fri dont think we are really going to save massive amounts. We do have timers on the washing machine and dishwasher though so set them to start at 11.30 and 1.30 today :D
When I was with EDF they always tried to put up the DD; it only takes a phone call; explain that you now have PV and tell them you want it reduced. As for maxing your savings, get a Wattson Energy Monitor; and 2 Optiplugs fitted to W/M & D/W and your made.....smiley-laughing021.gif

Dunno about zero, as Oscar say's they need to be tested.

Alas, it doesn't work quite that quickly ! Electricity consumption will reduce but if you're paying by direct debit it will probably take your suppliers 6 months to adjust monthly payment downwards. (of course if you suddenly installed a new item that consumed a lot of electricity they'd be much quicker to increase DD payments !)

Best bet is change supplier - that way you can set the DD amount from day 1.

    How long did it take?

I'm still waiting for the paperwork - a full 5 months after sending everything over to them!

I am with EDF and at the same time of my first generation reading I also submitted gas and electricity readings. The result was that without having to ask them they have reduced my direct debit from £130 a month to £2 a month, yes two pounds! from August to October which is my year end. I work at home so the majority of appliances can be used when there is maximum generation, and I think they had over-estimated my usage in this new house anyway. It does pay to submit regular readings and whilst it's nice to get a huge overpayment refunded, I would rather be in control on a regular basis.

    And Nigelpm...

    And wait...

    And wait....

To be honest, I emailed them every 3/4 weeks, and included a link to this thread so they could see folk talking about them - but obviously not my username!

    Never had a reply though!

Submitted first fit reading online, auto response.

Paperwork landed about 2 weeks later in triplicate!

Then I had a phone call asking if I had received it and whether i wanted to proceed with them for the fit!

We'll see how it goes for this year and if they don't improve the service then I'll move fit provider.
