Renewables: "talking 'bout my generation"

I used to watch my garage drop from 1.6kWh generation down to 3-400W in minutes when my first panel went into shade. I did swap to solaredge with PO's....BUT....my FiT for the garage is 46.8p so to me it was worth it, for you I'm not so sure.
As an alternative, do you use the chimney? May be cheaper to reduce that than to retro fit to your existing system...just a thought.
I have thought about the chimney - no we don't use it! Need to find out what the costs are likely to be?
Yes, our FiT is a bit lower, 14.9p.4kWp, SSE, SolarEdge P300 optimisers & SE3500 Inverter, in occasionally sunny Corby, Northants.
Now with added Sunsynk 5kw hybrid ecco inverter & 15kWh Fogstar batteries. Oh Octopus Energy too.0 -
26.8kWh today:beer::T
I wonder if this is as good as I'll get? Will have to wait and see...:D
Snap! I think it's as near as damn it for this time of year and I've now had it four days on the trot!
Gen meter was reading 206 on Sunday morning.
It now reads 312!
Plenty dumped into the immersion heater but also plenty exported.
That is probably 3x our usual elec usage.0 -
20kWh today, approx 6.7 Os.
Re shading, when I was out over the winter I spotted some panels that were being shaded. I was amazed that anyone would fit panels on a roof in that location. It was south facing but surrounded by trees. That was in winter so no leaves on the trees.
Brings another level to shading and I can't imagine even micro inverters or optimisers help when every panel is shaded. Maybe in the peak of summer the sun is high enough overhead for part of the day but they can't be getting much in the way of output.
Time for a good chainsaw me thinks; where is Shafeeq...
Yet another Hawaii + 1.56 O's; already up on April '13 todate...2.5 kWp PV system, SSW facing, 45 Deg Roof. ABB Inverter, Monitor: 'Wattson'.
Reg. for FIT Nov 2011. "It's not what you generate; it's how you use it that matters". One very clean Vauxhall Diesel Sri, £30.00 Road Tax:
Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).0 -
23.23kWh yesterday, 24.73 today. As an alternative, do you use the chimney? May be cheaper to reduce that than to retro fit to your existing system...just a thought.0

Been away for the the last 9 days, made 38 O's or 152kWh

Bit cloudy today, but at my current rate I should make another Hawaii, my 5th Hawaii in a row. Does that have a name?
Hawaii squared?3.924kWp (12X327Wp SunPower). SolarEdge SE3500 inverter.
Surrey/SE. 30 degree roof pitch, chimney shading from mid afternoon.0 -

Yes, our FiT is a bit lower, 14.9p.
Hiya. If you can find a good local builder, who isn't too scared of H&S, then as it's not a particularly large chimney, he may be able to dismantle it working off two ladders side by side, rather than needing scaffolding or a tower. Not a long job, and very minimal materials to patch up afterwards.
I dismantled the 'kitchen oven' chimney on our house about 4 years ago, did it from a single ladder, but it was a much smaller chimney, approx 3 by 2 bricks, and only protruded about 6 bricks. Like the Kernel, once I'd given the render a smack to crack it, the bricks (with mortar) were removed by hand with very little persuasion.
BTW, doubt that aerial is helping much!
Today's gen down from the 4 26-27kWh I'd been getting. Just a lowly 16.4kWh, or 2.94 Os. But very little import, so that'll do nicely.
Mart.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

Well you may be pleased to know I haven't managed it. 4.96 Os today...
Averaged 5.05 Os per day for the last 10 days. The day before those 10 days, I got 0.9 Os...
Oh - and I'm now only 1.5 kWh down on PVGIS for the month to date.3.924kWp (12X327Wp SunPower). SolarEdge SE3500 inverter.

I'm certainly not pleased, I wish everyone could get 5+O's everyday:)
I crashed and burned today with a measly 6.4kWh.
Oh well, we had a lovely red sky tonight. Hopefully this will mean a fantastic day tomorrow.4kw (16X250w Sharp). Samil Solar River 3680 TL inverter.
