Can anyone hazard a guess as to what period of the year is best for PV solar generation and what % of the whole years generation that represents.

    Thanks
    SL
    I made 1432kWh = 40% of 2012, in the 3 months..May, June and July

Or you could put your details in here:-

It would mainly depend on steepness, and orientation of roof.

I'll take a wild guess that it wouldn't be in Winter though...

After these two, temperature would probably be the next factor (if no shading issues). The arc of the Sun is the same on 21 August as it is on 21 April, but given the same amount of sunshine, the latter date should produce better results due to cooler weather.

I'm probably near the extreme Summer specialist end, with E/W and moderately shallow panels - most at 30d some at 20d.

67% of my gen (2,800kWh) is in the five best months Apr - Aug, with 33% (1,400kWh) in the remaining 7 months.

For my location (same 5/7 month split) a south facing 30d system would be spread out slightly more, approx 60% v's 40%. And at 50d it would be nearer 55% v's 45%.

    Mart.
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.

    2.32 O's today... But.....only 63.6 O's to go to hit the intallation predicted target by 22nd of November..... coffee.gif
2.5 kWp PV system, SSW facing, 45 Deg Roof. ABB Inverter, Monitor: 'Wattson'.
Reg. for FIT Nov 2011. "It's not what you generate; it's how you use it that matters". One very clean Vauxhall Diesel Sri, £30.00 Road Tax: B)

Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).

The Countryfile weekly forecast explained that the jet stream was zooming up north over the UK for most of July and thus sucking in hot high pressure for the Southern Continent.

Now it is back zooming down South into the Med. , the way it was for the majority of summer 2012; thus capturing swirls of low pressure from the Atlantic.

Perhaps the autumn is arriving early this year ?

19.5 kWh yesterday, maintaining my 19.5 ave. so far for August.

    nearly £40 for first 4 days. :)

yesterday evening BBC forecasting lashing rain all day today, actually blue skies and I'm sunbathing in the garden at the moment.

How much longer will all this cracking weather last?
