Renewables: "talking 'bout my generation"

The subcontract man came, on behalf of National Power, to fit me a replacement Economy 7 clock; It is all electronic and includes the import meter in the same enclosure.
He was left with a small post card sized red flashing electronic import meter.
I suggested it could be turned round and used as an export meter.
The idea obviously did not feature anywhere on the agenda of the meter installation industry. Are we heading for net metering in the not too distant future ?
Bring back the two way backwards rotating meter!
[The installer also fitted a seal to the junction box between my domestic wiring and the new wiring of the PV panels and their generation meter (both on my side of the import meter) - I not sure why as I still have access to the generation meter and presumably could pass non PV generated electricity throughn it if I really wanted to?0 -

It was indeed pretty overcast here too - but apparently not so bad as 20 mls N. (or 70 mls S) We managed 6.526 kWh. 3/4 of that would have been nearly 5
5/8 of it just over 4 No rain at all (but tanks pretty full anyway)NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -
