My point exactly....i.e. stop blaming the messengers...

I'd hate anyone to think I'm blaming the weather forecasters for not providing enough sun :rotfl:

However, I do think it's quite fair to compare what they forecast with what actually happened. One way or another, we're paying them to produce these forecasts and I don't think we get very good value for our money.

All three sets were agreed that today would be dull & cloudy all day today. At 7am I was thinking "it's a miracle - they've got one right at last!".

Currently seeing watery sunshine and several patches of blue sky through other brealks in the clouds. Generating 750W - which isn't all that exciting but is at least more than we're using. Quietly confident that my 'E' value will be above 1 by end of day.

Any one know if there is a web site that tracks the "jet stream" - the BBC showed it yesterday swooping South over the Mediterranean.

The misplaced jet stream got the blame for most of last summer for the wet weather - is this here we go again?

The BBC flashed it up over the weekend to explain that even this week the weather will not be back to average.

[What will it take for the doubters to agree that there is a man made climate change problem ? or am I displaying confirmation bias?]

Is this not all linked in with low sun spot activity?

I've read it's been linked to the Arctic's temperature rising much faster than elsewhere in the world, increasing at more than twice the global rate. Arctic Sea ice is down by some 40% in the last 2-4 decades.

There were calls for more research into it last year.

We're beginning to drift off topic.

this post on the bloated 'how do I make the most of it' thread prompted me to initiate a new one...

Perhaps it's worth seeking out one of the existing threads on global warming (or even starting a new one) rather than upset Kernel ?

Metcheck have consistently told me I'd be getting 100% cloud cover all day. Met Office broadly agree (apart from not quoting %ge). BBC have at least had good grace to keep saying "this period - & only this period - might get a few glimpses of sun (but still forecasting that next period would be cloudy again).

The tried & tested "look out of window" method has shown approx 30% cloud cover on average with several very bright spells peaking at 2.5kW.

12.4 kWh by 4pm. Still generating >1kW. Expect to be going out for evening around end of generation time so probably won't report daily total tonight.

Stop Press: 14.7 kWh for day

But if this has been a 'grey day', I look forward to many more of them.

Another day with far more sun than forecast, 6.32 kWh (3.16 O's). Forecast tomorrow is rain all day, we'll see.

Happy with my 3.5 O's today, just hope whilst I was at work the wife took advantage. She did yesterday, I had a lie in, when I arose from my pit it turns out she'd been out to the garage, up the ladder into the loft and checked the generation to make sure it was ok to put the dishwasher on.
Looks like all my nagging is starting to pay off:D
