Don't see why not, looks like that just plugs into the optiplug, but to run the optiplug i'm pretty certain you need a wattson to tell the opti that there's spare leccy being generated if you get what i mean

Can't see why not - assuming you could connect one side of the device to a 13A plug and the other to your immersion plug.

Not so very different to the 240v/115v 'site transformer' I'm using and would consider connecting to an optiplug.

One major difference though - device referenced costs £54 ; my (secondhand) site transformer (also from eBay) was only £15 or you could in fact buy a brand new site transformer from Screwfix for around £50 (screwfix site is offline at moment).

Yes, it looks like it needs the Wattson sensors, so that takes the total cost up. The developments are fast moving in this area - do we wait for the newer, better maybe even cheaper product or buy it now relax and enjoy it. Decisions :wall:

Who am I supposed to be thanking for the sun shining ? I don't even think it would be appropriate to thank the forecasters for telling me in advance when it was going to shine (not that they often do !).

No offence intended Eric, I just noticed that you never give anyone a 'thanks'. I thank most, as all information from other peoples experience is of value, to me anyway, and they have taken the trouble to post that information. But, your choice..;)

I've been searching for the price too as this looks like a very good idea, looks like you have to log in to get further information. Can you please pm me if you get the price and don't want to publish it.

Tunnel is correct, OptiPlug gets data from a Wattson Transmitter to know when to allow current to pass through it. It only allows current to pass through when there is enough of a surplus to energise the appliance; then shuts it off if that required surplus cannot be achieved. Could be handy for Eric when he is pumping water with other things on at the same time, pump will only work on spare power. :D Think Tunnel is correct that it is £49.99p but over a few years; better than 'fingers in the air'.

Don't think you would need OptiPlug to use this Gizzmo, from what I can make out it just reduces the power used on an immersion heater by half. Then it is up to you, when you switch it on; fingers in the air again.:rotfl:

Back to reality: 7.4 kWh for me... Oh and yes, to the question of generating more than capacity. Last year, for I don't know how long, I recorded 3.2kW from a 2.5kWp system. :rotfl:

I feel you may have misunderstood the function of the 'Thanks' button ! It is clearly labelled as thanking for a useful post and I do occasionally use it for that - e.g. earlier this evening when 'Tunnel' managed to find the ordering details for Optiplug.

I certainly wouldn't hit the thanks button for every single post that is of interest but not especially helpful and I've often been surprised that anyone should bother to thank me for simply posting a generation report here.

Receiving my thanks should therefore be seen as rather more of an accolade than thanks from anyone who hits button for every post read.

Actually, my water pumping takes only a few minutes per day. I'm quite happy to check Wattson before I start and make sure I use nothing else whilst it's running.

But consider yourself gaining 'half a thanks credit' for the mention. :D

If I buy one, I'd use it for my 115v transformer feeding reduced power to immersion.

    Still thinking about that though.

The Optiplug works with existing Wattson Solar Plus, Wattson Professional and original Wattson systems or as standalone system.

The reference to the standalone system is still confusing me. How can it stand alone where does it get its signals from do you have to buy Wattson sensors?

Also if for example an appliance needs 1800 w and only 1500 w is available what happens .......... does it operate the appliance and draw 300 w from the grid or does it wait, so many ???s in my head.
