Funny you should say that Martyn,as both my systems have 2k inverters meaning at 4kWp total i'm 100% not 92% cap. Should i have informed the DNO?

Nah! In fact your installer will have already, when he registered the systems with them. The only concern is that if prior approval hasn't been obtained for a system, that could (in theory) exceed 3.68kW, then the DNO could refuse to allow it to be commissioned, or continue to operate if already commissioned, when they are notified. Can't remember how long the installers get to notify the DNO, I think it might be 28 days after install(?)
It's one of those silly things in life, 4kWp of panels, or 4kW inverter, or 3.68kW capped inverter etc, are all in the same ballpark. It's just a matter of keeping everyone happy now that the rules is being checked, or not checked, or misunderstood, or ignored by the DNO's ....... no idea how the installers deal with this without going insane, more patience than me, I thinks!.
Bet you just can't wait to chat with your DNO about your WNW extension? :rotfl:

Finally managed a grand total of 19.433kWh for today from the two systems. Free hot water, two loads of washing, tea, coffee, lunch - and still not able to use it all.

Very impressive figures there Dave..
What is your average kWh being produced over say the period of 10:00 – 14:30 on a day similar to this one?2.5 kWp PV system, SSW facing, 45 Deg Roof. ABB Inverter, Monitor: 'Wattson'.

I managed several days around 20 kWh last year, sadly nothing like that this year (so far).
Isn't it fantastic doing all those things for free.
I bought a halogen heater 4x400W elements, I've found it to be a really great way to use excess free electricity.0 -
I managed another 6.8 today, having a great month so far....but committed a cardinal sin. I switched on an electric oil filled radiator about a week ago while we were having a cold but sunny spell. Forgot to turn it off again, its been eating 1.5kWh an hour(thats it rating) for the past week,24hrs/7days:mad:. OUCH.Not very MSE i know(used 500kWh in past 20 days) Its now well and truly turned off(unplugged).
Won't be doing that again in a hurry.

Just tried a neat gizmo for helping you to use as much spare Leccy as possible. I have got a small oil filled radiator with three power usage settings: 600Wh, 800Wh and 1kWh. Calibrate the Gizmo with the heater set to 600Wh takes 3 minutes. As soon as there is 600Wh+ of surplus being generated the heater switches on. With the heater on and you then have a surplus of 200Wh+ switch the heater to 800Wh, and so on until you are using all of your surplus. If some clouds come over, the OptiPlug shuts the appliance down until the surplus energy builds up again. The OptiPlug never lets you use more than what you have got surplus for.....that’s what I call an energy saver.....Edit: If you switch a kettle on, heater goes off until kettle boils then come back on again, is that good or is that great ! :rotfl:
