Our roof is well insulated and there was snow all around the panels but not on the panels.
    Exactly 4 kWh today.

    Guess WHAT 1.4kwh today.

    Don't believe a word...
2.5 kWp PV system, SSW facing, 45 Deg Roof. ABB Inverter, Monitor: 'Wattson'.
Reg. for FIT Nov 2011. "It's not what you generate; it's how you use it that matters". One very clean Vauxhall Diesel Sri, £30.00 Road Tax: B)

Definition of 'O's = kWh/kWp (kWh = your daily & accurate Generation figure) (kWp = the rated output of your PV Panels).

Our BoB's (black on blacks) are clear of snow as are another identical set about a mile away but another PV array NOT BOBS, same direction and tilt as ours are holding the snow. Is there a reason for this?
Are our panels supershiny, less metal surround to hold the snow???

Hiya K, no idea why. Mine were snow free both times before the sun could get round to them. In fact the first time there was little to no sun anyway.

Insulation, same as you, snow off panels, but sticking to the surrounding spare roof.

Can't think of any reason to do with their colour, so maybe it's just a co-incidence, and something to do with their design/layout. Weird?

Got 1.7 today (sorry Oscar!), but snow/sleet now due from 9pm to 9am, hopefully sleet as the temp should stay above zero.

    Mart.
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.
  • I don't have a snazzy monitor so I just take weekly readings of all my meters and I see that I have recorded a whopping 2 kWh for the past 7 days.

Mind you, looking through past recordings, it still isn't the worst I've seen. That record is held when I suffered the heady heights of 1 kWh during Christmas week 2010.

    A massive 58Wh today ! :T

May not seem that impressive to others but it's my first generation since last Friday.

Strangely, we strated generating before any snow fell off the panels. Sun was really bright around 11am so generation started even though all panels seemed to have a covering.

A mini-avalanche around 3pm has left nearly all panels clear so (barring unforecast overnight snow :D) we may do even better tomorrow.

Boy I thought I had record Zeros. I'll take it all back.
  • Armed with a soft broom, I climbed a ladder and brushed away the last of the snow bunched on the lowest row of panels, at 10:30.

Got rewarded with a generation of 3.21 kWh.

I probably need not have bothered as, contrary to the forecast, there is an ongoing thaw here on the Thames Estuary; after the morning fog lifted into grey cloud.
