Renewables: "talking 'bout my generation"

I've been chewing this over. A groat is four old pence, which means there are/were 60 groats to a pound, which makes 481 groats = £8.02 to the nearest new penny. That's about right for 3.9 Os at the generation value for a 2011 installation. But if you want really old money, it probably has to be Greek. Now I have a bronze hemiobol of Alexander the Great (type one, if anyone's interested) and this is about as old as any stable currency gets. A hemiobol (half an obol) would buy a (large) loaf of bread, or might be the most basic wage for a day's unskilled labour. The problem now is to convert Os into obols. In my view, using the minimum wage grossly overvalues the O, but thinking of the obol as the cost of two loaves of what passes for bread nowadays (say£2) might be about right. If so, a Hawaii would be five oboloi in really really old money, because it would buy about ten loaves for an averagish system. I rather like the idea of measuring solar generation in the currency of people who believed in a Sun God. What do other druids think?3.9 O's here today. Best day for over 6 months:T
In really, really, really old money, 3.9 O's = 481 groats:)O G  Somewhere on the South Downs

No such luck for me today: Inverter crashed at around 12:30. Showing the dreaded Error 031 on an Aurora Power One 3.6 kW. Think it means it's DEAD!Another £10 day here yesterday and judging from weather at moment and forecasters suggestions, today might be a third.
Hope I am correct in thinking it has a 10 year manufacturers warranty, as the installer is no longer around.:(... My lot for the day is 1.6 O's...

:mad:Ouch! Need to get it fixed ASP....just coming to the best time for solar PV
I renewed my inverter warranty in Nov, just before my 5 yr warranty ran out:eek:
Spoke to my installer (still around) and he said if my inverter failed he could supply a Chinese one for £400.00.
Checked with SMA and decided to take up their offer of a 5 yr "comfort warranty" for £220.00.
Hope it will last until batteries become more cheaper/viable:D16 Sanyo Hit 250s.4kWp SMA 3.8kWp inverter. SW roof. 28° pitch. Minimal shade. Nov 2011 install. Hybrid car. Ripple Kirk Hill. N.E Lincs Coast.0 -
