I've just rang British Gas to find out when Essentials is ending and was told it would be the end of March or April and everyone on the tariff would get a letter.

We qualify for the Warm Home Scheme and he's registered me for that but to be honest I would much rather stay on Essentials. It's all very well getting £130 next year but I'm going to be paying more for both my gas and electricity now. Plus we've got a prepayment meter (no debt but it's a rented house and we can't change to a credit meter) so we can't go on one of the cheaper tariffs we'll be on the standard rate. :(

I've just compared last years annual electricity statement with this years:
Last year 5,189.69kw used cost £518.28
This year 5,185.98kw used cost £608.87

So almost exactly the same amount of electricity used but a rise of £90 and that's on the Essentials tariff so it's going to be much more this year. :( And that's just electricity, I can't find last years gas statement to compare but I'm guessing that's risen more than the electricity.

Received mine yesterday from EON, £120 electric voucher, although I am yet to exchange it.

Mine was from EON too, they had to put it on in 2 lots a £99 and a £21, it's weird looking at my metre and seeing over £100 on it.

It won't be like that long. I swear since getting mine i am using double the power somehow... Or atleast it is taking double the normal money.

I applied through EON's website last December and got an email saying they had recieved it. Emailed them yesterday asking if I was going to get the money and they replied asking who and where did I apply to, as they had already paid everyone who had applied. In other words they had lost my application thanks EON.
