I was searching the internet for a tv and came across a site called mansiontv
The site has amazing prices..
I just wondered if anyone purchased a tv from here at all or have any information they could give me with regards to how safe this site is??
Thanks

Low prices maybe, but what sort of quality are you getting for the money?"MANSION….a new brand is born"
I also had a look at their order and payment page, and they are asking for credit or debit card details on a non secure webpage. (it is a normal http webpage).
Not the sign of a professional setup.0 -
As Shaun writes, not particularly professional, take this page
http://www.mansiontv.co.uk/terms.asp
The backs of the TVs look like very low quality plastic, typical of Chinese origin. They are however cheap, but are they good value? Impossible to say really. All the reviews on the site are 5/5, that to me is a bit suspicious.
Personally, I'd never hand my CC details over a company who cannot be bothered to use HTTPs.0 -

Probably not a scam at all, more likely non UK TV's as mentioned which may mean. Bare in mind this may not mean anything other than you would get no UK warranty. Assuming they are made of cheap parts because they may be Chinese is bizarre and a typical old wives tale. Not everyone is China has a cheap, second rate TV. There may be be more companies there would produce stuff like that but lets not tar all with the same brush.
Some of the prices are actually quite normal and not too cheap anyway.
without reviews though I just wouldnt bother.0 -

I assume the parts are cheap because the price is cheap, and the TV is unbranded (well sold to be re-branded to unknowns). I am not tarring anybody or any country, the TV is clearly built to a low price, and the construction of the back of the TV is typical of other Chinese TVs I have come across.0 -
"THIS IS AN OFFICIAL MANSION HEADQUARTERS ANNOUNCEMENT:
"MANSION….a new brand is born.
Striding forward to manufacture superior models with a revolutionary thrust in every step we take. We pride ourselves in surfing on the waves of innovation, constantly scanning the technological horizon for those innovations that make us extremely competitive on price. "
Are they serious???
The TV's have a refresh rate of 60HZ, which suggests they are made for the U.S market, though they do have a DVB-T (i,e Freeview) tuner."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
Thanks for your very helpful replies

I think ill give it a miss... TV's seem quite cheap but i don't want to take any chances, even the warranty £14.98 for 3 years seems very low also.
Very difficult choosing a TV these days when your not up to speed with all the technical stuff! I;ll go to the shop and buy and hope for the best :T

Doesn't seem to be a spammer.OOps is that something i have done?
The reason that Dunroamin made tha comment is that companies who want to get customers to their website sometime pose as people asking questions on here, and they often state what good value the products are.
Your first post did come over like that, but your follow up post shows that you are just someone with a serious question.
I agree with your comment about the warranty price.
£14.98 for 3 years seems exceptionally cheap, but I suppose that if the company concerned isn't still in business when people have to claim from the warranty, it won't matter how cheap it is.0 -
Oh i see... i can see where you are coming from yes.
With regards to the warranty... i never thought of it like that! It is scary.. it was only by chance i came across this forum that i decided to post this thread and i am so glad i did now.
Thanks everyone :-)0
