I find Organic Moo milk to be the best (creamiest tasting) and it is only 59p a litre at Sainsburys at the minute or 59p for that and the semi at Home Bargains if you have one of those nearby.

lol remeber the days when people handed family heirlooms down to children now it's yogurt :rotfl: thanks i'm really considering buy one, you must be sold on it if you've already made a few patches :)

By the way things are going we will all be handing down yogurt and not much else!

    :D

I have been making a batch every day since I bought it last week and I am the only one that eats it!

I have some for breakfast, mixed with oatbran and strawberry jelly powder for flavouring.

I use some as a spread on sandwiches.

Use about half a tub (once strained and put into an empty cottage cheese tub) to make oatbran muffins.

Use some mixed with either tuna or grated cheese and onion for the sandwich filling.

Have some plain straight from the tub during the day if peckish.

As you can see, I like it.

    :D

Plus it is full of protein which make you feel full and hardly any fat.

    ;)

    Hi sb44,

Yoghurt maker arrived yesterday and made my first batch of yogurt in it overnight. Looks really nice this morning and it's now chilling in the fridge.

If I wanted to strain it to make Greek yogurt, should I do that when it is still warm out of the maker or chill it first? And how long would it take?

Thanks again for this thread :)

Sorry Kevin, not been on the internet all day so missed your question.

You will have sorted it by now but I chill the yoghurt for a few hours before draining it.

It is up to you how long to drain it for as the longer it drains the thicker the end result.

I let mine drain for two to three hours.

I may save one jar and let that drain for a few hours more if I want to use it as either a spread or a type of cream cheese.

You're right I just guessed! Did two hours in the end and it was delicious with some honey. A million times nicer than I made previously with uht in the easiyo and so much nicer than shop bought.

I've got the next batch yogging overnight too now and some more draining for breakfast. I'm hooked :D

    Glad that you like it.

I tried UHT in the Easiyo and it came out in a big blob and was quite grainy so that has gone to the back of the cupboard. :o

    This is far better.

I may experiment and lower the time in the maker to 8 hours and see how that turns out, I will be draining it anyway which makes it thicker.

Will let you know how I get on. ;)

I tried some yesterday with maple syrup which was quite tasty.
