Hi car-car,
I'll have a look at my manual when I get it if nobody has helped you out by then.
I've scoured the Internet and can't find a copy online anywhere! I did find this one though and it looks very similar to the Rachel Allen one. As a last resort you could use these.

Hi sb44,
Do you heat your milk before putting in the jars?
Thanks,

No, I use UHT milk which doesn't need to be heated.
I just put all 3 ingredients into a jug, uht milk, starter yog from last batch or the Yeo Valley if this is your first batch, and some dried milk powder (make sure the milk and starter yog are at room temperature when you add them). Give it all a god stir, pour into 6 jars, stick in the heater, cover with lid and switch on!0 -
This is some that I drained this morning, I left it for 10 hours in the heater then let drain for about 2 to 3 hours this morning.
You will be amazed how much liquid comes out of it.
I tend to fill 2 x 300g cottage cheese tubs once I have drained a full litre of yoghurt.
I put most of this in the cottage cheese tubs and leave a bit in to drain further until drier, I then use that as a spread on my sandwiches.
This is how I drain that small amount below and the bottom pic is if you go a bit further and drain until almost no liquid at all, this can then be used like Boursin, Phili etc if you add garlic, herbs etc.0 -
did u use skimmed uht? i'm still humming and haaaing about buying it, maybe once i'm moved and know if i def have room for it, did 1 litre of uht do all 3 jars? even with the milk powder and starter yogurt, thats a pretty cheap yogurt
what are you draining it threw? would u say it makes much as a soft cheese? i'm now thinking of cheapy cheesecakeDEC GC £463.67/£450

I used semi skimmed but I have used skimmed when I make it in my slow cooker and got the same thick results, you just get a bit less if you drain skimmed as it contains more water.
No, it made 6 jars, you get 7 in the kit but it fills 6 right up to the neck of the jars.
I won't need to buy any more Yeo Valley now as I used 2 tbs of the previous days batch to make this batch.
Some say you need to buy a new starter after a few batches but I read the other night that some have continued through generations without buying new starters!
I have a medium sized sieve (one of those with a straight handle on it ie Poundland jobber) and I use a mans hanky to drain it through.
Just put the sieve over a bowl, drape the hanky over the top and pour in your yog.
Yes, some people use it to make homemade cheesecake but I would end up eating it all myself so I have never bothered making that.0 -
Here is a blog that I found regarding making yoghurt cheese.
