How to find out when someone died.

You may have tried this but......Have you tried googling her name and town where she lived. If I google my Dad's name & town he lived in at his death it brings up a link to his obituary in his local paper.0

Try www.192.com or www.pipl.com and put in her name(s) and postcode.
You may be able to pick up her listing on the electoral roll and that will often give an approximate age.
Alternative find the marriage to grandpa and that will give you her age in a particular year. if you them ask the Registrar where she died they will look for a death with an approximate age over a 5 year span.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
The marriage cert is a good idea.
It's hard to understand why your sister can't find her in the records.0 -
fantastic idea about the marriage cert! We know the exact date they got married so that should be helpful.
Thanks for the links too, hadn't thought of searching for her that way, we know her last address too. Wow I can see why people get so hooked on genealogy it's like trying to work out a big puzzle and once you get your teeth into it it's hard to let go lol0 -
I have spent too much time chasing people across centuries.
Once you have her age, try to check for her birth - modern death cert registers include the DOB.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Anyone looking for my nanna would struggle to find her. We registered her death with the name and maiden name we knew her by - which I later discovered were not legally her real names! Not only that but her birthday was wrong as well - although we had aware that her dob was registered incorrectly as 6 days before the date she was actually born. The first clue we had about the names was when we found an old passport in what was left of the photos and letters and wondered why she had someone elses...?!Eat food. Not too much.
