Avon - consequential losses

  • I understand that some people may think that this issue is all my own fault, and thank you for those opinions, but what i am actually asking for is some support and useful advice.
Unless you have something useful that can help me to try to recoup some of the losses i have suffered would you please refrain from posting?
I don't mean to be rude, but I dont want to waste your time, I just want some help.

Perhaps the items have been handed in to the nearest police station? Was alcohol consumed in the nightclub?

I called the police station a few weeks later and nothing had been handed in.
No, i wasnt drinking - I was driving that night - which caused me issues around lost keys and having to get a taxi home as we only have the 1 car.

Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't make a post unhelpful.
You have posted on a public forum and anyone is free to post their views and opinions in response even if these views disagree with yours. (provided that they are not breaking any of the forum guidelines by doing so).
  • Have you checked with your motor insurers to see if the keys are covered?

Yes, they are free to do so.
I am also free to ask them not to.
They dont have to listen, but I actually dont want to know anyones opinions on whether they feel I should have had contents insurance, or i should have reported it to the police, or i should have noticed the items falling from my bag. None of these things help me as its too late. I am interested in advice helping me with my current issue, not protecting myself in the future.

What people can help me with, if they choose to be helpful, is advise on their experiences with claiming in the small claims courts and claiming against large companies as I have not done this before.

I am a new poster, and i have never asked for help before in this public forum. At the moment I dont feel i have had much in the way of actual help. If you can suggest somewhere where i might get this help I am requesting I would be interested in knowing so i can perhaps avoid the finger wagging.

    A solicitor.
  • Have you checked with your motor insurers to see if the keys are covered?

i wasnt clear on this, but yes - my keys were covered, not with my motor insurance, but with my partners key and card cover. this covered my home keys and locks and the cars keys and locks.
This was covered as i had personally identifiable data in the bag. It was part of his card protection plan.

The costs incurred as a result of the keys being lost were taxi costs, as i couldnt drive home and my partner couldnt come and collect me as we only have the 1 car.
we collected the car the next day after getting a lift back to town with a friend.

I have been very careful to reduce the amount of costs associated with the losses i have asked them to cover, I gave 3 quotes for replacement phones, and these were all for refurbished phones, as i did not want to better my position.
The cash I can prove i took out only that evening, and reduced by half, as i had spent some on dinner and soft drinks.
The make up i can prove i bought from bank statements and have stated that although not all of it was avon i would accept avon vouchers to replace it ( which would reduce the cost to them ) even though some of it was a more expensive brand.

I havent been unreasonable, i am not trying to better my position and i have made efforts to minimise the costs i incurred. i am still paying a monthly contract which included my phone, but i have a very old nokia i am using instead as i cant afford to replace it.

I just want avon to pay for the things i lost as a result of a poorly made bag.

    I cannot afford a solicitor.

Why do people have to be facetious?

I don't know why I bothered thinking that people on these forums would offer me any serious assistance.

I would never behave this way towards someone who was asking for help.

Fine, it's clear you only want to hear what you want to hear.

You have a claim, you can claim all the losses you've experienced and there will be no questions asked.

Seriously though, you're going to have an uphill struggle with this one. Just because someone offers advice that isn't what you want to hear doesn't make it wrong.

Oh, and I'll post where I like, I realise I'll just be another post that's wrong because it's not what you want to hear, but it's an open forum so I'm going to post this anyway.

I want to hear useful information - i dont think thats too much to ask.
If people are incapable of offering that i just wish they wouldnt bother and i requested this.
as for an uphill struggle, yes i can see that with the calibre of assistance i have received thus far from this forum I will have to rely on other means to garner any usable information.

Thanks anyway for taking the time to make me feel badly about asking for help, and making a polite request for non-helpful opinions to not be shared.
I hope you never need help, or if you do, people are equally as difficult.
