  • I'm 24 and i still sleep with the same teddy that was in my incubator at the hospital (i have a very understanding husband, lol)!!!

If he tried to take it away from me then i would probably divorce him!

It hasn't affected my life one bit.

P.s. Its the mankiest thing EVER!! If you want to see a picture of how unbelievably manky he is, i'll post one for you.

EDIT - I mean my bear is manky, not my husband, lol!

i'm 36 and i still have my teddy which was bought for me the day i was born, i don't sleep with teddy, but can't bear for him to be chucked away, so i have given him to ds1
enjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)
  • oh heavens im pooping myself now at the thought of having to take the dummy away, ds2 s 1 1/2 and has a dummy and muzzy to snuggle ( hes quite happy to have clean muzzys so thats good !!)

Oh muzzys!!! Both my kiddies, 20 months and 6 months both love their muzzys!!

And dummies too! I am dreading having to wean the dummy away. My eldest always asks for her bummy (dummy) and zizi (muzzy).

My two are the same though, any muzzy will do. DD is not too keen on ones that are brand new out of the packet though. They have to be washed a few times first!

I had an argument recently with my HV about this - my 4 yr old has 2 John Lennon elephants and won't go to sleep unless they are in bed with him - he has one in and one out and when the one in gets warm he swops it for the cooler one. He doesn't have them out of his bed and is quite happy for them to go in the washing machine (although if he knows he prowls it - just in case !!) The HV told me to just take them away - a 4 yr old doesn't need them anymore ..... I politely growled at her, but she wouldn't back down so in the end we "agreed to disagree"

He will give them up when he is ready - if they comfort him in the night well thats good ?

Last summer when it was really hot, I gave my son my sarong as he likes to have some cover over him, it's never left his bed........he loves it!.

Dummies...when he bit the plastic of dummy I made him go cold turkey, I was actually pretty happy that I had an excuse. My hubby is training to be a dental hygienist so I am sure he won't let our daughter hang on to her dummy for very long, but with the benefit of dummies with regard to cot death, I think I don't really mind to much.
Oh....I'm not going to lie to you......At the end of the day, when alls said and done......do you know what I mean.........TIDY

If that was me, I wouldn't give it back. If she is ok without it then it's pointless. Be strong, I am sure after a few days she will forget she ever had it.

  • If it has worked and feel this is what you wanted then fine, but honestly ooobedo the child is TWO AND A HALF!!! I think the news this week has been that our children are growing up too fast. I personally think having something like this is a 'stress' reliever and relaxer, and no I am not suggesting they suffer from 'stress' the way adults do but I feel there is a very real place for these comforters, even for adults (as has been posted)
