Mobile option for short stay in France?

I'm going to France in July for about 9 or 10 days and I was wondering about the best option for a mobile. I'll be doing a few French local calls and would like also to call a landline in the UK if needed, although of course my prefered option is to skype the UK. Any suggestions would be welcome!

Hi, Thanx for your concern for my holiday welfare ;) but it's not an option for me as I need to make calls within France and also to the UK. So if anyone has further suggestions, they'd be very welcome!

Work out roughtly what you will use.

Carrefour do a PAYG sim card for I think 20 or 30 Euros but you get 20or 30Euros credit, but if your only makeing a few calls (and need to recieve them) you may be better contacting your porovider and getting an international bundle than getting a new sim wih t a new number and so on..

No idea if this is any good or not, but googled PAYG france and got this http://www.lefrenchmobile.com/?gclid=COLq6t_K7a4CFcwTfAodmT_CIA

Suggest you do same and look around at what comes up.
  • Some other countries have good equivalents to PAYG SIMs but I've not found one I liked for France.

will show you the available choices.

For me, on a couple of weeks holiday to France I use a UK Vodafone PAYG SIM which comes with their Passport option.

My main interest abroad is data on a smartphone and they charge £2 for 25MB (after that the rate is £1 a MB).

    Hey, thanks!

After googling I was wondering whether anyone had experience of a French Lebara sim card & whether it would be worthwhile? I would use it for a few French calls & calls to the UK. Also what would be the cost range for someone calling me from UK?

I'm with T-mobile. Any idea how much using it in France for a few internal French calls and a call once a day to the UK would cost? what price range would it also be for someone to call me from the UK.

As you can see, I don't want to know a lot ;)

    Thanks for your help!

    and select France.

I have a T-Mobile contract SIM but it isn't leaving the UK with costs like that !
