What a bargain 10p
Shame they don't limit them so more happy customers, as most would be really happy at getting one set like that for 10p I know I would.
Not a lot you can do really is there, aside from remembering to check next year.0 -
Hi, I just have joined this forum, and I have an interesting experience to share!
No wonder I can't find any good bargains at the Superdrug Kilburn London branch (yes, it's London Karma again). I popped in this morning and this is what I found instead of 10p bargains! Basically the employees were hiding all the good bargains in a box behind the counter and when till wasn't busy they checked them out themselves. I was amazed that one employee was buying at least 50 items in front of me. I asked the other cashier what he was buying and she said it is on the shelf over there and nooooo of course they were not on sale at the shelves because he was buying them all. I was so disgusted at the employees behind this scheme because there were a few more shopping bags hiding behind the counter! So I was wasting my time after reading this thread hoping for some good bargains.0 -

Some stores staff aren't allowed to do that are they, they can only have what's left so to speak, don't know if Superdrug are the same.
But I guess you can't blame them for getting perks if they are allowed to do it.0 -

I was merely pointing out that just as she was upset over this, her own actions ( failure to point out an online price) also could have consequences
Had she pointed this out, others although sold out online may have been able to get something in their local stores
Or perhaps she wanted to keep the information to herself ???making her no less greedy than the shelf clearer
Back to lurking
By the way I'm not a newbie just not using my longstanding MSE name for personal reasons at the moment
For your information, someone had already kindly mentioned this in a posting somewhere and I did not want to repeat this. AND I had thanked that person for it too. I just thought as I was out and about anyway that morning, thought I'd grab 2 of each box-sets just to give to a younger niece and nephew, who might like to try it out. Would not dream of giving it away gift wrapped at that price either, as would be far too embarrassed.
Anyway, for those of you who did manage to get hold of these bargains well done:)0 -

Unfortunately at 9am the store wasn't even open yet and funny enough the Christmas opening times was not displayed on the glass doors either, walked away and thought I'd try later.
Went back around 10am again, checked on the shelf for both the gift boxes and it was already sold out:mad::mad: enquired with the shop floor assistant, who informed me that somebody came in at 9.30 (when the store opened) and bought 23 boxes, and another person bought 16 boxes. I mean that is just plain GREEEEDY, was fuming inside and yet I just wanted only 2 of each set.Why don't they put a cap on such gifts if it's selling so cheaply?? for e.g up to 3 boxes per customer or something along those lines?? I WASN'T IMPRESSED!!!
(Sorry folks but just had to let it out tonight)
This really makes me angry. The clue is in that the shops are retail and this is allowing people to buy wholesale. It ends up getting resold at car boots or on ebay for a profit and most likely no tax etc paid on it. Local M&S clearance some of the people that buy like this are on benefits and making themselves a nice earner on the side.0 -

People may just be buying for themselves though and to use as gifts.
It's unfair to say everybody buying is greedy and going to sell on for a profit.
I myself bought a fair bit at 49p and £1 but was to use for myself and as presents for family members as hav quite a few siblings and aunts/uncles to buy for:heart2:Mummy to a beautiful little girl:heart2:

As a regular at the car boots you get to know some of the people and where they shop. If there is a clearance on you will see it the following weekend for sale. Saw a fight in M&S one day with a woman who has a stall at a local car boot and a woman who wanted a bargain for her own use. Had taken the same garment from different sides of the rail. Upsetting part is that some people need to try and shop cheaply and they are making a profit out of it.0
