kindle 4 connection dropping

Can anyone help please. My kindle 4th generation is almost impossible to connect at home but works elsewhere. Just bought another as a mother's day present and it's the same so think it must be something to do with my home network. I'm with Virginmedia and use a netgear router. The PC, printer, mobile and wii work fine on the wifi. Thought it might be that there's too many things going through the router. have tried turning all others off but not made any difference. The kindle has an experimental option on the menu which lets me look at the books but won't let me buy any. Any help gratefully appreciated.

To buy books from the Kindle Store on the Kindle you need to have set up an on-line account with Amazon.
Assuming you are entering the correct passcode when trying to log on to your wifi network then all I can suggest is changing the wireless channel on the router. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Try changing the wireless mode in the router interface to 'g' or 'n' only, depending on what protocol your other devices are connecting on. I had this same issue where a Kindle would not connect to a BT Home Hub despite trying everything. Switching the hub from dual mode to 'g' only solved the problem. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Thanks for the replies. No issue with passwords etc as it does connect very briefly. Not a techy person, sorry. How do I change the wireless mode?0

Logged on to the netgear wireless settings. Channel is set to auto and the mode is b and g. Should I change anything?0

Try changing the mode to 'g' only as already advised. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Just spoke to virginmedia and g only wouldn't work. She says to try channels 2 to 11.0

Do you mean VM told you 'g only' wouldn't work? Why would they know anything about Kindles? Have you actually tried it?
Since there are only 11 channels, the only one she is ruling out is channel 1, which you are presumably already on. You can try this, but I doubt that it will make any difference, if all your other devices are already connecting OK on that channel. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
yes VM told me g only wouldn't work so didn't try it. Will give it a go and see what happens. Channel was set to auto so I changed it to 11, no difference then to 2 and still no difference.0

It's not a channel issue. Just change it to g only as suggested. What's to lose?No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Changed it to g only. One of the kindles initially loaded a bit better and let me view the first few pages of the top 100 free books but now just spinning and the other won't load kindle at all but will load google. Able to view web pages so it seems the issue is only viewing the kindle store. Very confused.0
