You can have your DPF removed.
There are companies who can programme your ECU and offer and perform A REMAP .
Regarding the MOT ! I believe they can refit the pipe and the DPF and afterwards remove it again .
Regarding the performance / and the economy of the car Without the DPF I don't know . Hopefully someone here can answer that.
I presume all this is legal quite a few people have had it done .
Mot bit concerns me not completely honest is it ?
Posted this info to hopefully help someone .

In Germany their government gives you a €300 subsidy to retrofit DPF to your non-DPF diesel car. Crazy!"Retail is for suckers"

What's the implications regarding increased emissions and car tax, will you be obliged to inform the DVLA and/or insurance co. of the mod?0

Best thing to do if you're concerned about a car wit ha DPF is to buy petrol... 8/10 people who buy diesel just don't do the mileage to make it worth while.0

I hear you can also run your car on slick tyres
You just need a set of road legal ones to put on whilst the car is being MOT'd and then you can switch 'em back again.
Manufacturer's fit DPFs for one reason, and one reason alone; to allow the car to meet ever increasing strict emissions requirements (which are legislated for to help the environment and the air quality we breathe)
If an OEM could make their engine meet the emissions requirements by simply changing a few parameters in their software, do you really think they would spend a small fortune fitting a DPF?
When you modify you car's emissions so they no longer meet the legislative requirements, it's no longer legal.
(If it does continue to meet the emissions requirements there would be no need to revert it back to the original design in order to get it through an MOT)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
The MOT test for diesel emissions is a smoke test and it is only measuring the amount of smoke emitted and nothing else. Removal of a DPF shouldn't affect the ability of a diesel car to pass this aspect of the test. There are different limits for diesels used for the first time on or after the 1st July 2008 and these are set at half the level of cars used for the first time between the 1st August 1979 and 30th June 2008."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

You're better off asking on an owners club where people are more likely to have done it.Try the VAG ones as its a popular modification on the 170 engines.0

Whether it passes the smoke test or not is irrelevant - from 1st April any vehicle originally fitted with a catalytic converter (or dpf) which has subsequently been removed is an mot failure.0

my son recently removed his dpf from his leon fr170 tdi.simply took the dpf section of the exhauast off, took it to a local car mods/exhaust tyre place.they charged him £30 to cut the block out of the silencer housing, then rewelded it.he put it back on,dpf warning light disapeared, since he's noticed the car is a lot more powerfull and about a 10% improvement in mpg.he's very pleased whith, and no need for a remap?0

I drive a petrol car .
I thought it might be usefull to owners with DFP who are happy with their cars just want some solution avoid getting the most common fault the limp mode.
I presume to keep the car insurance valid . You will need to inform your car insurance because of the modifications done to it . There might be a premium hike or maybe not .0
