You never answer the question, you have an android phone , has that been affected by malware? That is how you are rude.0 -
This is all about benefits-v-risk. At the moment, the risks seem to be fairly minimal, at least as far as I can see.
Is Android more at risk than Iphone? Possibly. Is it a huge risk or a very marginal one? I tend to the latter.
I also know that there are a number of road deaths in the UK each year. I could avoid that by staying in, but I weigh up the risks and go out, but drive/walk sensibly.0 -

Indeed, if 25% of road deaths are caused by drunk drivers, then the other 75% are caused by sober drivers, which means drivers are more dangerous sober than drunk

Just waiting to be told that unfermented Apple juice is better for you as it doesn't intoxicate.0 -

In 2011, 65% of new malicious mobile applications targeted the Android platform, compared with Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition, a.k.a. J2ME (27%), as well as Symbian (7%), and Windows Mobile (1%). Overall, one-third of malicious apps targeting Android were designed to steal personal data--such as contacts, call logs, text messages, and photos--from the device. Almost an equal number of malware apps were designed to take control of a user's device. No reported malware for iOS and Windows Phone.
This is going to sound a bit rude, but I don't think most are wrong and only you and DUTR Are correct.
Are you saying most newspaper and tv Chanel are anti-android?
Wonder how your statistics doesnt mention those for iOS?
If you dont know then see these few videos and educate yourself what risks are there in the one you say is safe (supposedly). see all 6 videos and see the advantages and disadvantages and security risks, which OS crashes more, which OS is more flexible etc etc!

If you dont understand then watch again. Hope you enjoy the videos! Hope it does dispel many myths that android is complex or less user friendly. My three year old can unlock my device (if not security protected) and start using apps that she wants and even back out of apps and go into the app draw and choose what she wants and interact with apps. So if a three year old can do it then I assume others older have the mental capacity to use android devices without much issues! If you still think they are complex then its not the device or its software that is at fault but rather its the "users internal software defiencies" that are at fault.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -

No, I don't believe they are, but I do believe that you are in a mild way.
All they did was provide the numbers, but you are the one who tried to draw comparisons between "honest" and "dishonest" phones.
Comments like saying that permissions to access
phone/text/etc.. are only there to allow an option for Android coders to scam users, things like that.
That comment is why I said you were being churlish - I mean c'mon, it's so over the top, like saying all government are Nazis or totalitarian because you disagree with them; It's like what a kid would say in an argument.
If you understand that even to hide the app when a call comes in - just to give one small example - That requires the app to be able to "read" the status of the phone. Even innocuous functions like that require an app to do things you are calling scam-bait.
If such a simple thing can be called a scam, then how can you carry on arguing with someone like that?
To give your figures above some context, look at the same figures for Windows XP/Vista/7, Mac OS, and finally, Linux.
See any similarities? Nearly all the malware activity is for Windows, but we still all boot up our computers don't we?
The sad truth is none of us really care about the people who get scammed - I mean, they'll get scammed sooner or later, on their phone by a dodgy app they don't understand, or by email from a Nigerian price, or they'll get a call from "Richard" at "Microsoft" saying they have a virus & could I have your password please sir...?
If we really cared about these things, then Windows would have 0% malware, because that's the one that nearly all of us use every day, but nothing changes, because at heart we're not that bothered - It's a minor detail to take note of & then forget while we're upgrading to the new version of Windows, or choosing which new phone to buy.0 -
“Our first investigations show Apple doesn’t pay enough attention to security. For example, Oracle closed a vulnerability in Java, which was a target for a major botnet several months ago…Apple blocked Oracle from updating Java on Mac OS, and they perform all the updates themselves. They only released the patch a few weeks ago — two or three months after the Oracle patch. That’s far too long0

I'm an electronics communications engineer working at a security research centre. We recently had the chief security officer of Nokia visit and give us his opinion. In summary, he said there are around hundreds of (possible but rare) attacks against Symbian Phones, there are a handful of rare attacks against iPhone and there are a handful of rare attacks against Android. We're all quite lucky as most cybercriminals are making their money out of exploiting Windows XP users. When Microsoft deprecates WinXP, then Watch Out! as the crims will move to the mobile realm.
It is true that Apple's Walled Garden gives a bit more security than Android's more Open Marketplace, I personally bought a Windows7.5HTC phone as it was cheap and nearly works, it's not a security target as there are hardly any other users! The key to mobile security is patch and update your operating system as often as possible. Think before downloading an App that seems too good to be true. Try not to root or Jailbreak your device unless necessary. DON'T DO MOBILE BANKING, (yet!) until the security models are a bit improved. Good luck and enjoy the Digital Agenda 20200 -
I think main problem with the Android Is the updated. Takers months to receiver them.0

I think the main problem is not android rather people talking out of their backsides.
Just to enlighten you i had previously linked a few videos to your copy pasted rants on every android thread here. But to further enlighten you here is a link to a periodically updated list that should keep you going for a while! But somehow i think that wont make a difference regarding the ill informed rants on every android thread.
Anyway here is the link http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF2E689203EE62F20 Dont forget to see all the videos on the playlist.
ps: dont forget to periodically visit the same link as that list is updated regularly.
pps: dont forget to share the link to the playlist on every android vs iOS thread you post on!bubblesmoney :hello:0
