  • From my own experience, which was with Insure and Go, you may as well put a match to your money if you buy any sort of mobile phone insurance from any of the companies.

My son's iphone5 is now done with the phone provider, it's expensive I know but it's the only one which is guaranteed to provide adequate cover and swift replacement, the rest are a waste of time in my opinion. And that was having reported the incident to the police, they still refused! I always thought that insurance was designed so that "they take the risk" but from experience, all I can say is "you take the risk spending money with them"!

    You have been warned!
  • Has anyone had any experience with Geek Squad insurance through the Car Phone Warehouse? I took out their policy with my 4S upgrade last week?!

    Thanks

Hi I have never brought phone insurance before and I brought last year the new Samsung. I took out this insurance and it is fab! I dropped the phone twice! and it has been replaced without question straight away each time. I have now changed the cover it was in for something better. Well worth the money for me :-)

I took out an Insureandgo Policy in June last year for an I phone 4S, through MSE. The Policy covered for theft ,damage etc and cost £62.50. I received a reminder last week that the Policy anniversary was looming, and if I wanted to renew, then follow the link.Unfortunately, Insureandgo have effectively withdrawn the Platimum Policy I held, and insisted on my applying for one of their new policies,( as a new customer)which you guessed it,offer less cover for a much higher price(50% increase for the closest equivalent to my existing policy).
But,the really crazy thing is, that they won't renew my insurance anyway as the I Phone is own is more than 12 months old! So why did they contact me advising me to renew? When I eventually spoke to someone, they said they did this because many of their clients renewed their I phones every 12 months, so they would not renew my insurance anyway! What nonsense. You can only get an I phone insured if you take out a policy when you acquire the phone as new and only then will the cover last for one year only.
    Any ideas?

    AVOID Insurance2go

My son lost his Iphone 5S beginning of May, after numerous emails, still no sign of honouring the claim. Asked for different pieces of information each time you asked for progress of claim. AVOID buying from them. Their good review only related to how easy to BUY the insurance not the claiming process.

I went with the Insure2Go recommended insurance for Samsung Galaxy S4 and paid £64 I think.

One year in to my insurance, my phone was badly damaged and the screen completely broken.

I reported it on Sunday 29 June 2014 by email and letter. I received no acknowledgement. I chased on Tuesday and I got told that I didn't supply the right information - (even though I had). I actually got sent an email to a different customer too saying that they had been rejected. Once I got the correct email later that day stating that I had not supplied the correct information, I got the confirmation from Vodafone that Insure2Go sought (exactly what I had provided already). I called Insure2Go to check they received it on Wednesday. They told me it would take a further two working days to process. I was not contacted on Friday (the two further working days).

They claim 2 working days but I am still waiting and it is now one week later, Sunday 06 July 2014 and I have no phone and am getting increasingly angry. I am considering asking for a refund of my premium.

I would rather have paid double the money with Vodafone and had a phone instantly replaced.

These guys seem unscrupulous and are exceptionally poor communicators.

  • A few people have asked this question in this thread, but there hasn't been a single answer :(

Does anyone know of any insurer that insures phones that were purchased outside the UK??

    Thanks for any help

Have you tried cover with your bank account or your home insurance?

Thanks for the reply. I don't actually have home insurance at the moment, and my bank doesn't offer insurance with my account :( Also, the banks/home insurance providers will probably also have a policy which means they won't insure phones bought outside the UK?
