I wouldn't mind an untidy garage! Everyone has clutter, and it has to go somewhere, so if the house was tidy generally then it would be fine.
We saw one house where there were dirty hand prints around all of the light switches (and no, it wasn't meant to be like that!) I can't tell you anything else about the house, other than the dirty hand prints, which were just... well... off putting!
We bought up the road from that house, and even now, if we're trying to describe where something is we will still say 'go past the dirty handprint house....'0 -
Okay - update!
Thanks for all the tips again everyone! I'm definitely going to keep a cleaning list handy.
They were only here 6/7 minutes tops ands said very little. Asked about the neighbours, didn't want to look in garage (phew!) and were surprised by the sizes of the bedrooms. They were also quite keen to establish our lack of chain situation. But, they were very quick, didn't want to look about on their own for a bit and had very few questions, just neighbours and about whether the trees in the garden could be removed. They seemed polite, but no more. But then i'm no judge, this is the first viewing i've given!
It has reinforced my opinion that the EA ought to have put pictures of all the bedrooms online though and described them as doubles as i asked!
I'll be interested to hear the feedback tomorrow, and also tomorrow is the day we're supposed to hear back about the part ex quote from Taylor Wimpey, so hopefully the first positive day in the 5.5 weeks! Well fingers crossed!0 -

I can't believe this. You've got good sized double bedrooms and the EA didn't highlight this on the listing even though you asked him to???? (He should have done it off his initiative anyway but not doing it after you have asked him to is unforgivable). I would dump the EA immediately and I hope you get a fair deal from TW as your EA doesn't deserve a penny in commission let alone thousands of pounds.0 -
You can never tell from reactions during a viewing. Sometimes people effuse like mad and you never hear from them again, other times they say nothing then offer the full asking price!
Good luck though, I hope this one does come to something. And if not, make sure the details reflect the double bedrooms! I'd try that first before lowering the price, but you may want to lower the price if you still don't get viewers Unfortunately, it's a buyers market at the moment and sellers need to be 'realistic' rather than 'ambitious'.0 -

So true, the ones who keep going on about how lovely the house is are not interested.0 -
just a safety warning for you if your alone in the house, leave the back door unlocked or ajar for quick exit if you need it , dont go into bedrooms first, keep yourself between him and the door, let a mate know what time viewing is and get them to call you after 15mins. I know its 100/1 anything will happen but a safety plan is needed even with our girls in show homes.my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0

True to a point but we have a second viewing tonight with a couple who viewed 2 weeks ago and were very positive when they were walking round. I would never be rude/negative about a house whatever I thought but I wouldn't be very positive if I didn't like it either.
We've definitely benefitted from the Spring Bounce phenomenon that I've heard about. We went on the market just before Christmas (bad time of year obviously!), had a few viewings over the first 2 months but then 3 couples have viewed in the last 2 weeks and all are interested so we're hopeful we might actually get an offer from one of them.0 -
Just wanted to add quick update in case it is inspiration to anyone in the despair i have felt over the last 6 weeks...
They want to come back for a second viewing next week!!!!
Wish me luck! I think i'll be spending mothers day tidying the garage, and the garden!0 -
