All veg schemes appreciate feedback so if you find that food is going off too quickly or that food is coming to you in poor condition then speak to them and they'll either refund or replace but as they're usually packed either the same day or the day before everything tends to be fresher than the supermarket and because they're not restricted to growing varieties that will keep for weeks and still look good the flavour is far better. You will have to get used to washing your veg thoughAnd to making space in your fridge for various leafy greens that come in the summer but you soon get used to working out what needs using in the first day or so and what can last a couple of weeks (root veg etc).
And I'm such a kid even when I know what's going to be in it I still have that Christmas feeling when I unpack the box0 -
I was thinking of starting one of these - has anyone used
http://www.goosemoor.co.uk/
(yorkshire) - they seem to be a lot cheaper than the others that deliver round here0 -
I use ethicalfoods.co.uk who do set boxes or you can tell them exactly what you want in yours (means you don't have lots of spare sprouting purple broccoli... which I hate...) and you only get what you want. Their selections do reflect the time of year so don't count on finding out of season strawberries on the list
And they try to source supplies as locally as possible to minimise food miles
Worth trying if you live in Buckingham (or like me in Oxfordshire
)

I have used these in the past and they were ok but I have found Low leases Farm https://www.theorganicfarm.co.uk to be better (less overripe produce)
I have also found abel and cole to be of a good standard.Twins, twice the laughs, twice the fun, twice the mess!:j:j0 -
Just had a look on the abel and cole website and this page is great
http://www.abel-cole.co.uk/default.aspx?tab=ThisWeek&menu1=ok
just click on the info button by the side of the name of veg and it gives you info on storage, nutrition, how to prepare and recipes - great if you've got a new veg and don't know what to do with it0 -
I've used the local franchise to us for the same group as riverford (ours are rivernene.co.uk). They were excellent.
Over time, I've had different sizes of box, depending on whether we were away or not, what the selection was and if I would like it. All have been fantastic and I found the items lasted longer than shop-bought ones.
I bought one originally because I want to reduce food miles, rather than because they were organic. For me, it is more important to use local suppliers and food that is in season rather than whether that farmer has sprayed his crops or not. Personal choice I suppose.
You do have to be slightly organised with your meal-planning or you find you have 3 heads of broccoli left to use but no mushrooms or whatever. Also encourages you to try new things.
Like the previous poster, I agree that you could at least use these sites to see what they offer. With river nene, you get to see what is in next week's box before you buy.
Let us know how you get on.

Simba I am very jealous of your veggie box! I have just started with one, same idea more or less, a £15 box split with mum but we got MUCH less than you did, it was meant to be a family box but we will be struggling to get through the week with our half! Where did you get yours from?0
