I have used flightsorchardorganics for just over a year now. Richard delivers to me once a fortnight and I have a mixed fruit and veg box. He is very accomodating if I need to cancel or amend my box if we are away or have visitors coming.

Only had a couple of issues with the quality of the goods over this period of time, and they have always apologised and refunded or replaced on the next delivery. I find the pineapples from them don't keep too well, but you have some items you can put on your "no" list so you don't get them.

Carrots are lovely and purple sprouting is just divine. The salad pack of lettuces was in a few weeks ago and was gorgeous, the best I have ever had.

As others have said, summer is the best.

Does anyone know if I'm likely to do something awful to my drains if I just empty the muddy water from veg washing down the sink?!

I worry about this so have started scrubbing veg in an old washing up bowl and then putting the muddy water on the garden. This has the extra advantages of
    a) being able to leave the muddy veg to soak so that they are easier to deal with without clogging up the sink
b)using less water for the scrubbing
c)providing some extra guilt-free watering water in the summer months

Have you tried typing your postcode into https://www.bigbarn.co.uk to see what comes up or try the list on the soil association website?

Theres also a couple listed here under Wales but maybe too far from you? Although first one seems to deliver all over the place (London!?)

  • Most of them allow you to have a list of things you don't like which they then won't include, some are more flexible than others but if it was a very long list it might be impractical. I just have Kurly Kale (beurk!) on my do not include list, anything else I will eat! :)

We've been working our way through the veg we got on Friday (Flights Orchard), extremely impressed with the quality (especially the purple sprouting, never had any fresher!), and it tastes so much better! Most was used for Sunday dinner - spring cabbage, purple sprouting both steamed, carrots boiled, parsnips roasted. Also made a lovely veg. soup with the leeks and potatoes. Salad with the cucumber and lettuce (cucumber is delicious!) Runner beans with a meal on Saturday, OH said they were great (I don't like beans).

Still not decided what to do with the celeriac - maybe mashed with potato, how would it go with pork stroganoff?

I've been using Riverford (https://www.riverford.com) for a year now and they're brilliant! Great quality and good price.

For about £18 I get potatoes, leeks, spring green, swiss chard, carrots, 2 lettuces, 2 peppers, cuecumber, tomatoes, celery, mushrooms, lemons, apples, oranges and pears. That was this weeks offering.

Don't know about availabilty 'up north' but would highly reccommend them.

just tried this link and came up with hotles, flights and things nothing to to with vex box's.
