I think you are mistaking percy for me, the lads almost in his own gaf so its all worked out for him.
Im still living with my mummy and saving up.
I would be quite the 8ellend to go and give a landlord a 100 quid a week for a room when there is an empty one at my mams.
Saying that, rents are dropping around here now so it could be down to a tenner a week.0 -
That is sort of true.
If you open up a pre walkman hifi cassette deck, you have a casstte drive, a small pre amp and not much else apart from a PSU to convert mains down to a few volts and a lot of air in a big box. The concept was great though as it took very little engineering.
I don't think it took mains level in, did it? I think it came with a wall wart to provide DC.
It's a great example of leveraging technology advance to open up new markets though.
Just think, maybe in our life times we will see higher level automation products like robots in our home, in the workplace, even on the battlefield. Genetics and bio-engineering will equally open up marketplaces involving millions of consumers.
Do we want to lead or just follow (or watch) in those new market places?0 -
I disagree with this - I thought the same until getting an iPod touch as a Christmas parent and was an immediate convert after that.
Come on now FTBFun. A mum and dad are for life, not just for christmas!0 -
That's generally something non-Apple owners say to justify a purchase of an alternative product

This is cr&p. The reverse is in fact true. Apple owners always and without fail need to tell non-Apple owners that they use an i-something or a Mac.
... Well, bully for you, Jack.1. The house price crash will begin.
2. There will be a dead cat bounce.
3. The second leg down will commence.

I think ILW was talking about normal cassette decks. They were mostly mains/battery powered. The mains was stepped down to something like 9v DC, or you could run them on 6 x 1.5v batteries.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much. i was thinking the stereo decks that were with high end hifi at the time. (big things with silver fronts). The did not even have a speaker, but just a line out and headphone socket. The mains PSU was about the biggest thing inside them.0 -

I have something similar, an amplifier, but it has lots of things in it, both the PSU and the main circuit board. I think manufacturers got rumbled and the public wanted more for their money. Mind you, I suppose the modern day equivalent is a midi system, but at least even these have less air in them !30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Equity : Don't know, don't care much.
