But it's hard to get motivated to do it when you're not sure you'll need the insurance policy when Issue 1 runs out, you'd have to earn no interest for over a week on £1k, and the Nottingham BS have got a 3.2% product out with excellent feedback so far...
The cheque credit may not appear until the cheque is cleared, but they'll backdate it. You may even get overlapping interest.

But the Notts BS product that also runs until 30/6/13 does make it a bit redundant. The only downside with the Notts product seems to be the £500 minimum balance. Once it's in, it's stuck there for 15 months whether or not you ever need the account, unless you want to forgo the bonus already earned on it.

Transferred 5K from my Derbyshire account on Tuesday lunchtime. Money has not reached my FD account even though it should have arrived by the end of the following working day. It debited my Derbyshire account on Tuesday so is lost in the ether.

When I rang up Derbyshire they said they have a problem with a number of transfers made on Monday or Tuesday which they are trying to resolve.

The money was required to fund an investment. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :(

Will see whether it has been sorted when I get home tonight.

I rang them up (not having seen the post referred to above) with the same issue, and heard the same answer.

She seemed very keen to get my details off me to pass on to her manager, even after explaining it would be sorted in a couple of hours. Maybe planning to 'make good' automatically? (even though with the balance I transferred, it was only 50p a day in interest it was costing me)

Definitely not opening issue 3 now. Realised it's very unlikely I'll have any spare cash that isn't topping up my Monmouthshire account until next ISA year anyway. Quite chuffed that since topping up another ISA, the 4% at Monmouthsire (3.2% net) is now my lowest paying net account, even though it's all available at 99 day notice or less :D

Those people coping with Derbyshire's latest series of problems with withdrawals may need to hold their breath about DBS's ability to fix them.

I reported in post #24 that they managed to duplicate a £5.5k withdrawal on 26 March and that they had recovered their overpayment by appropriating funds from my account 2 days later without letting me know. They have now written to me (received 5 April) saying "we have now rectified the internal problem and are writing to you to request that you return the funds back to us via cheque made payable to the Derbyshire Building Society at the address ....... ". So having presumably mislaid the money they took from my account to cover their error, they want me to pay them again so they can make a £5.5k profit out of me. I have written back asking that my reply is processed under the official complaint handling procedure. Sounds like the complaints department is going to be busy.

The mystery is why the Derbyshire runs its own systems instead of running on Nationwide's systems.

True, but possibly it's a way to keep the savings income coming in while Nationwide is working on the grand plan ?

........ which might mean that in a couple of years time they may have got their act together. Until then it seems we can only shop elsewhere or put up with it .

Their handling of your problem sounds shambolic. I would be asking for £25 as a minimum plus any lost interest to be made up. If that is not forthcoming then another case for the FOS to deal with I'd say.

As for sending a cheque made payable to "Derbyshire Building Society" in the post, I'm not sure security wise that is a great idea (aside from the fact they've already "made good" their loss from you).

Just a reminder that the bonus runs out tomorrow (30th June) so it is time to switch away from the Derbyshire netsaver issue 3.

They've got a handy facility to switch to their latest issue. Just log into your account and follow the link and it's updated to issue 11 the next day. Only 1.70% including bonus to 30 June 2014 but now one of the best of it's kind out there. I've left a pound there for insurance.
