Climate change is an unproven artificial construct (that was initially called global warming, but after over a decade of falling temperatures, they had to think up a new name).

It is designed to transfer wealth from the poorest to the richest by means of green taxes and carbon credits.

    Incorrect! You are so wrong.

Climate change is proven and real. Mankind's contribution to it is real, the extent of mankind's contribution to it is debateable. Unfortunately scientists have done a woefully poor job of communicating their science to those less intelligent than them, like you. In a few cases the science has been deliberately miscommunicated and this discredits the genuine science. Also the science is filtered through the mainstream media and the MSM have abysmal science reporting reported by science reporters that do not understand the science upon which they report. This, coupled with the fact that the MSM never allow the facts to get in the way of a sensation leads to silly statements made by people that think that the climate is simply what is going on in their back garden right now.

That it is used by govts as an excuse to raise taxes is a situation that will continue as long as there are enough people that don't take it seriously enough to demand real action.

I think you just lost the debate there. I suggest you go and do some research on the subject.

Now, you would have thought they would start looking into ways to purify water from the Thames.

    No shortage then.

Suggest away. There was no debate. You have no credibility, your comments could have been pulled from the comments section of a Daily Fail article.

Considering that "poor, extremely poor people in other countries" struggle to have enough (and clean) water, it is only reasonable that you shouldn't take your, fortunate, situation for granted. I hope that you are not, one day, thirsty while others are running their water (after all it is their water, they paid for it) down the drain. You should also hope, that one day, water doesn't become a commodity that is speculated upon, like your food. Then you might regret your wasteful entitlement. A commodity futures market in water supplies is a possibility increasing in likelihood. Already the World Bank and the United Nations have classified water as a human need and not a human right, justifying it as a saleable, private commodity, like food.

No its not reasonable and no to your suggestion that I shouldn't take water for granted. I was born in the United Kingdom and I do take water for granted and I am asked to pay for my usage, which I do. I was not born into an African country or other such country that suffers droughts or other such horrors. Yes, you, me and everyone here are more lucky to be born into our country than they were in theirs, but its not my life's work to sacrifice myself and my life for every other living being on this planet. I give to charity and support the local Air Ambulance, I've rescued many homeless animals and given them a future (quite a luxurious one) - all my animals are rescue animals and I've paid my way through this life and worked hard for every single thing I have. But bleeding heart for the rest of humanity I am not and don't apologise for that. None of us can spend our lives sacrificing for others ... and to be honest, most don't. Find me any successful person who gives it all away to others or has the quickest shower possible to save water for others? Sadly, the meek do not inherit it all, the hard working, the tough, the sometimes ruthless do, that's just the way it is.

Actually water in this country is classed as a human right. If anyone does not pay their water bill due to lack of funds, they can not cut you off. To cut off your water supply would be illegal. To me that describes water as a human right. And yes, if we pay for it, we can be and shall be as wasteful as we like. But I don't consider my needing 20 minutes in the shower a waste, its my human right as long as I pay for the said water. And, I do.

    I've been Money Tipped!
There was something on the bbc Saying actually in the uk we had less water than much of the third world....so i guess per capita and population density might have a bearing.

Also, reasonable access to water is not unlimited in our homan right. I think they said something like 20 litres per person per day?

I would find that very difficult indeed.

Gosh, I haven't worked my butt off all these years to end up with a lifestyle whereby I have to turn the water off between washing my hair etc. goodness me! that's progress in civilization? no, to me that's what poor, extremely poor people in other countries have to do. I have worked hard all my life to make my life better each year, not to make it harder and more of a struggle. I see not that 20 minutes in the shower is any sort of waste at all, I pay for my water, damn water meter and they charge a fortune in my opinion! I wouldn't go to all that trouble you go to, my hat goes off to you, but who seriously appreciates you sacrificing such a simple thing huh? the Govt.? other people? I doubt it. You shouldn't have to mess about like that to have a shower, for goodness sake, enjoy your shower! its one of the simple things we can enjoy nowadays.

I'm not doing it for anyone else, nor for any goody two shoes reasons....I just hate waste and I hate large water bills even more.

My water bill is high enough due to having disabled children and the extra washing and cleaning that entails, so if I can cut my bill by even a small amount, it gives extra pennies for small luxuries that we can all enjoy, or makes me sleep a little easier at night without worrying about a bill.

I'm a bath person anyway, showers are not my idea of a relaxing time, more a means to cool down in the summer months (I cold spray to cool down rather than to wash in).

My current situation has nothing to do with it either....I was the same as a high rate tax payer.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
